I‘ve just tried shift+enter and it does work. 😀

Most of the “regular” keyed shortcuts work, but the forum software providers have disabled underlining, on the basis that It will confuse a tiny minority, who think only hyperlinks should be underlined. (Here’s my conversation with MSE Stephen about it.

Personally, I think it is short-sighted, as well as annoying. It seems fairly obvious that the software providers don’t actually use forums. Anyone who has ever spent a lot of time hanging around MSE will know that this “upgrade” is actually far more clunky and harder to use on PC’s, tablets and phones than the previous version.

Pip, it also suggests that MSE staffers aren't bothered about how the upgrade has affected Forum users, and that they don't frequent the Boards....

I was thinking the other day that it must be getting close to when Martin's link with the site will end. I think he was staying associated for 10 or 11 years after selling the site. I guess when he goes the bean-counters will be in charge and they don't make any money from the forums. ??

On a different note, how are you all coping with the cold? I've just walked to the pharmacy to collect a prescription and it is BITTER out there.

While sitting at my desk, I'm wearing two jumpers, a fleece, thermal jeans and a scarf. For my walk, I added a hat, gloves, and full length puffer coat (aka "The Duvet").

ETA: I forgot to mention the knee-length Ugg boots that I wear as slippers around the house. And I'm wrapped in a blanket.

@PipneyJane I have been horribly cold the last two days, which is very unusual for me. I'm also very tired, and very worn-out by Everything Happening, so I am putting it down to that.
I was fine swimming in the quarry this morning, and in the gym after. It's when I sit down and stop being busy and suddenly I feel cold and miserable, which I reckon is not very much related to the temperature…

Generally, they reckon the best thing is to avoid sitting still- if you can, get up and march briskly for sixty seconds getting your knees right up to hip-height- set a timer and try to do sixty before the minute is up! Even if you can't take a break as such, most jobs will let you get away with sixty seconds…
