No, I hadn't, @MrsCD. It was limited to 75 shearers, but even so….
Each year since 2011 a temporary concession has been granted specifically for sheep shearers, allowing no more than 75 shearers in from the southern hemisphere to shear 1.5-2 million sheep in the UK.
You do wonder how 75 individuals could make such a significant difference.

Apparently we train hundreds but only a handful go on to stay in the job! It is such hard work. When you watch them they work so quickly, but yes, you wonder how 75 could make such a difference..

As someone who used to have alpacas, getting a shearer in France was something that gave you sleepless nights - you didn't rest well until you knew you were on the schedule for shearing. Generally they are worked off their feet, let alone what it must do to their backs! Part of the problem is that there are so many sheep/alpacas and it's time limited to get them all sheared after it's warms enough for them to be sheared and before their lives are endangered by overheating, (should we ever get any sun that is 🤣).
Shearers were like gold dust. Dxx

Can I double check because I can see it in the old list but not in the new list that baby clothes for under 4s are still exempt?

That is correct. There’s no change for clothes for the under 4’s, @thriftmonster.
If something isn’t mentioned on the new listing, but was shown on the original, then the original still applies. I suspect the original listing was revised after several senior civil servants and ministers were given an ear-full by their wives, mothers and sisters. However, at least we know that they didn’t discuss the clothing ration plans with them beforehand, or this revision wouldn’t have happened.

I bought a few more vintage linen towels, £11.52 spent, an extravagance. I was fascinated by the hairstyles and the clothes and aprons of the women who made the pink guest towels. They were a Christmas gift to Mr and Mrs Wilson from H. Cowlishaw, a card with a kind message was tucked in the back.
