Afternoon All and Happy New Year
Been struggling over the last few days so I've not done much (per usual). Health wise I'm feeling alot better but still not 100%. I'm struggling with the decluttering. I basically need someone to stand there and give me permission to get rid of stuff without me feeling guilty.
Yesterday I started going through the boxes under my bed that have been there a VERY long time.
Three boxes were full of books, some that have been read and some that are new which I've obviously brought when I worked at a discount bookshop. I managed to bag up about 2 and 1/2 boxes worth for charity but also have a pile of "maybe" books.
The next box had unused notebooks and very old paperwork and then I found old birthday and valentines cards from my ex husband. Proves how long I haven't been through these boxes I divorced him in 2009 I think. Anyway that didn't make me feel good so that was the end of the sorting although all the cards did go in the paper recycling.
I'm really hoping DD2 will help me go through some more if she's over next week.
Of course it's also got me thinking about the waste of money but my thoughts are if I try and list things on selling websites I'll still have it all hanging around the house on the hope someone buys it.
Does anyone have any experience of the websites that buy books off of you? How things are sent to them etc?
Yesterday, I S/S the kitchen, did a load of washing and finally put the last of my Christmas presents away.
Today, another load of washing, put the DW on, had a dozen calls from DD2 and prepped dinner.
Tomorrow, DD1 and family are supposed to be coming over, picking DD2 up on the way so we can all go to my parents so DD1 and family can have their Christmas presents and we can have ours.
Tbh it probably won't take long as DD1 never wants to spend time with any of us.
In the afternoon DD2 and I are meeting up with my BF to exchange presents as we've all been poorly over Christmas so couldn't meet up.

Original plan for Friday
Open windows to let in fresh air even if only for 5 minutes ✅
S&S kitchen ✅
S&S bathroom ✅
10 minute tidy in any/all rooms -
Empty any bins - bin day here today so did this yesterday. ✅
Straighten chairs and cushions etc ✅
Wipe coffee table and straighten ✅
Plump cushions ✅
Make beds✅
Run vacuum round high traffic areas - delegate this job if you can to one person who can go from room to room ❌
HHI - try to get on top of the laundry as poor drying weather looms ✅
For those of you with small people - find book bags, kits, water bottles etc and ensure they are ready for Monday ✅
Additional tasks
1. Booked hairdressers for me and the boys.2. Fell down a rabbit hole in the spare room! I now have more recycling to go after breaking down boxes and some charity shop items.3. Removed all clothes that are too small for DS2. Created 4 bags worth of clothes to put on Vinted/school uniform swap site.Very much in the ‘what have I done stage’ of the decluttering. But I’ve done most Fly lady tasks and completed TOM for the day! 💪🏻 I didn’t hoover because I was moving things in and out of storage, so I’ve rolled hoovering on to tomorrow.

@wendywitch - I have sold books via one of those buy any books sites. They usually pay pennies for books but if you have a volume to shift it will add up. You scan in the ISDN code and a price is offered or the book is rejected. There is a printable label.I cleaned the skirtings in the hall, stairs and landing today and dusted the hall table and window sills. I also cleaned the bathroom floor.
washing has been folded and put away. Dishwasher is loaded and waiting for tea mugs to be added at the end of the evening.
i did notice that the bright sunshine showed up fingerprints on the glass fronted wardrobes, tv, and shower screen. I expect the smears will still be there tomorrow, waiting patiently for me.9 -
Morning all xx
Oh boy. Going into the paid stuff for one day discombobulated everyone. I'm not sure any of us knew what day it was, but the general consensus was that if felt like a Sunday...in which case why were we sat in the office?
It would be nice to settle into the Saturdailies this morning and get back into a routine, but I have an appointment at the hairdresser's at 8.30 am. And I'm out for a meal with DS and DDil at the village pub at 5.30 pm. Plus it's Pops' 91st birthday tomorrow. He's meant to be flying to Benidorm on Monday with Babs, but she's been in and out of hospital with pneumonia over Christmas, so I don't know if they're going or not. I hope they are as I've put Euros in his card as a birthday gift! Anyhoo I'll ring him later to see if me calling round tomorrow morning is convenient. Or if it would be better to nip round today.
I'm up, made my bed, taken my meds, turned over the calendars, changed Joey's seed and water, completed Strands with no hints, completed Wordle in four, completed Connections with no lives lost, and I'm supping my first brew.
There's a bitterly cold wind blowing a hoolie outside. No snow and too dry for frost - so at least I don't have to scrape my car before I set off.
I'll get dressed, go to the hairdresser's, then crack on with the Saturdailies when I get back.
Sounds like a plan. I'll feed the birds and put out the recycling before I set off.
Stay toasty my lovelies

Morning all. Hope you're all ok. Welcome returners.
I spent the best part of five days in bed in total, improved yesterday and feel almost normal this morning. So far I have dusted the TV and the windowsills and stuff on them in the LR and kitchen.
Washing still up to date, dailies kept on top of and DH put Xmas stuff back in loft yesterday. He's currently prepping beef stew for our dinner later. I am lucky to be looked after so well.
Wordle in three, mini crossword in 5 mins 28 seconds, strands with no hints, two lines on connections.
Right, wash up breakfast dishes, get dressed and walk Poppet are next to do.
Have a great day everyone. Stay toasty.Spend less now, work less later.10 -
Morning all,
Chilly here, it was -6 yesterday evening. It’s a beautiful morning though, and thankfully no fresh snow. That pleasure is being saved for the beginning of the week, if the forecast is correct.
Glad you are on the mend, Jazee.
So far, wm x 2 done. I am now looking for my guag which has been hiding for a couple of weeks. We I took down the decorations yesterday, they are now back in the loft, apart from the errant one that I somehow missed on the mantelpiece. The low winter sun is now showing the dust in the LR and DR beautifully.I think I might procrastinate some more. Coffee anyone? X9 -
Morning all,
My list for today
Do dailies
Take DD to her riding lesson
Tidy up the clutter that has gathered at the bottom of the bed
Take DD to the stables so she can check on and feed her pony
Iron school/work stuff for next week
Sort out a spreadsheet based on paying off debts and saving for a house deposit.
Remind kids to get their school bags ready for Monday
Get work bag ready for Monday
I think that is everything that I need to tackle today. I hope everyone has a lovely Saturday/weekend.

Morning all
Took my Flylady energy to my vol job yesterday and did a thorough clean - vacuuming then mopping tiled floors, wiping down, emptying and washing the bin etc. They really need to get a cleaner - I would be up for it if it fitted my lifestyle, which it doesn't, ideally they need evenings or early mornings (hence the poor fit) or Sundays.
I had washing pegged out and it dried - the atmosphere is so dry! Not sure if today's will as its colder.
I also went to se my friend who is struggling massively with general anxiety disorder and it really is a battle. Worst I've seen her and I cried (when she was not in the room, thankfully).

Afternoon all.
We had a lovely day at DS1's with almost all my family. Just DDiL2 was missing, as her gran died on Thursday morning and this had come as a massive upset for all her family, following so soon after the death of grandad on 21st December; but they were both in their 90s, had been happily married for over 70 years, and by now both very frail, so it was not entirely unexpected, and they are now reunited as they had wished. RIP Derek and Mary, a lovely couple.
Much to their delight, all my six grandchildren are now taller than me, and the two oldest boys are considerably taller than my DH (we have photographic proof). My only jobs yesterday were to hand out gifts, unwrap the things that I received, and pay for the chippy takeaway for us, all of which I was very happy to do
Rosie spent the day with her friend L and had two walks and lots of treats and cuddles.
DGS1+2 came back to stay with us for the one night, while DD and DSiL stayed in a nearby P-Inn. DGS2 complained that his feet hung over the end of the trundle bed. DGS1 told him he should bend his knees and not stretch out like a stick insect
DD and DSiL joined us for breakfast, with DSiL even doing a fry-up for us all. We have more snow and sunshine today, so I walked Rosie (brrr!!) as soon as DD&Co had left to go and meet up with my ex and his younger progeny. I have cleared the DR table and found some leftovers in the fridge to make soup and enough Brie to fill a croissant or three for lunch. I need to finish stripping the spare beds and do several loads of laundry this afternoon, now that I can drape things round the bathroom again, but I'll leave the genuine Christmas decorations up until the 6th.
