Bit late to the party today but the electrician has been and removed the outside light at the back and replaced it with a new PIR light. I don't think the old one worked this century though it did work when we first moved in. Decorator (stepson of said electrician) has popped by to say hi/check up on him.
Honey_Bear - I assume you're sorted?
I have washing on the line as, although it is cold it is also dry - so making the most of it.

Yes and no Valli. I still don't know how to open attachments on old emails in a chain but I have a neighbour who will know, but she's hard at the cliff face at the moment. I'll ask her this everning. In the meantime I've asked the sender to resend it, which was what I was trying to avoid but needs must. I'd wasted hours on that particular lump of work because of that one bit of missing information, and enough's enough, so to speak. Thank you to the Flylady who made several helpful suggestions, not the least of which was to log out of Apple and log back in again.Since that job was off my To Do list for today I then switched SIM cards having PAC'd my mobile number because I'm paying £10 a month more than I need to for my mobile which, to be honest, I don't really use that much. I've been putting that Frog off for as long as I can. I think I can receive texts until the old number is transferred over but apparently that's not happening until 5.1.26. Fine by me.I'm going to chuck the large black insatiable cat outside for half and hour and freeze the rest of the turkey which would be an impossible job if he was within sniffing distance, I'm currently keeping the dog company on the bed for her nap (she gets very twitchy if I don't for at least half an hour), and then, at long last, I can get back to the finances that I'm desperate to straighten out for next year. Tomorrow. Cutting it a bit fine here.Flying-wise, I have put almost all the laundry away. This place has been like a laundry for days with stuff neatly dangled everywhere. So glad it's all away now.Better is good enough.9

Afternoon all. I knew it was the last day of 2025 but only reading on here reminded me to check the bank account and update my money book. Done now and a little bit put in savings.Very cold here today, our lawn is still frozen now and it's getting dark. I've done 3 dog walks (2 of them an hour each) so only one very short one to go. Washing done and dried indoors, although dry and quite sunny today we also had intermittent fog.Hope there aren't too many fireworks tonight. I get annoyed every year when they wake me up but can't seem to stay awake until after. We haven't had the dog here for Bonfire Night or New Year before and apparently he's fine at home, but they don't get many fireworks where he lives and we get loads here
We shall see.Hope everyone's OK x8 -
DD and I have been to order a bookcase because I need one, to go in the DR and to match the other furniture in there, then we've had a coffee and nipped to M&S for a look in the sales.
I have encouraged DD to have a look at some of her possessions since she's in the throes of moving out (albeit s-l-o-w-l-y) and I have listed stuff on ebay.

Today the migraine has got the better of me.
I managed to go to the bank and to the DIY store for the paint and varnish I need to start the last phase in the new room. The range did not have anything I needed and I haven’t found any bedding I like yet either.
DS brought his Doogie over for his overnighted and apparently will be collected er Saturday but he is a sweetie though so we don’t mind.
Have dozed this afternoon and managed to get a sort of tea cobbled together with JP’s and picky bits.painkillers aren’t really cutting it so am gonna wish everyone a happy new year and head up for an early night and hope tomorrow is brighter.
Have great evening all and best wishes for 2026Mortgage, paid off!8 -
*Healing vibes* Kazmeister. It's taken all this time to finish my 2026 diary. At least I've got a fair idea of what I'm doing for the next few weeks. I think I'm going to be at must desk for a fair few days.Fireworks are going off here sporadically. The animals are all hyper. Wren has done a lot of carpet digging. I've given the cats a cat nip toy and they're both playing with it when they get over-whelmed by the bangs. I'll be glad when this night is over. I need to put Wren out for her final pee but I daren't just yet. No idea when it'll be safe.Better is good enough.8

Today I hoovered all through downstairs, finished wrapping all the family's presents for Friday, and cleared my desk together with the doom pile of paperwork on top of my printer - leave it there long enough and it's no longer relevant!
I dealt with the turkey yesterday morning, froze a whole leg and a whole breast so that we didn't get bored with too much of a good thing, made soup for lunch with the bone stock, and threw out the carcase in time for the bin men to take it away early this morning along with the rest of our Christmas rubbish. I seem to have managed the menu planning over the festive season quite economically, considering that I fed four extra people on Boxing Day and we certainly haven't been short of provisions. There's just enough roast beef left for our meal tomorrow, if I also plate up the last four pigs in blankets, but we finished off the extra veg on Monday. Yesterday evening we went out to an excellent Pakistani restaurant for a most delicious curry - we shall definitely go back there at some point in the coming year, as it was all very reasonably priced
This evening we ate the last of the gammon. For dessert I made a Danish risalamande (rice pudding with lots of vanilla, blanched and split almonds, cream, and what should have been hot cherry sauce but in our case was some hm blackberry and apple jelly) as an end-of-year treat. It was totally yummy, and we've still got enough for at least two more meals. I'll need to be a lot more sparing with sweet treats in 2026.
Having said that, I need to make 3 coffee cakes tomorrow for my children and grandchildren, and I always lick the beaters!
I'm waiting up with Rosie because of the expected fireworks, which she hates, so I've got time now to finish off my 2025 financial records and transfer the balances onto the 2026 spreadsheets before midnight strikes.
Here's wishing everyone a healthy and happy year ahead xxx8 -
Good mornng, and a very Happy New Year to all Flyladies!Wren insisted on sleeping on the bed again last night after a particularly loud set of fireworks around midnight and Higgs was so distraught he crept under the duvet and slept there for several hours - that's new behaviour for him. Twiggle sleeps in my office/RoD because she's a nightmare during the night and we didn't sleep through the night for two years until we eventually decided to shut her in there. She's got a little igloo and retreats in there if she's upset, so I wasn't worried about her. It's the randomness of the sporadic fireworks that distresses them - they're fine for the National Fireworks Championships which are six bursts of 10 minute long displays and we can manage that, but 5 November and New Year's Eve it's 7.00pm to midnight here and there dotted about for hours they can't cope with. Anyway, they're all fine this morning and that's it over for another 10 months.I've cleared the draining boardm, done a bit of vacuuming and litter tray Flying.Today I will be back to the financial planning and intend to spend most of the day at my desk.Better is good enough.8

Good morning and a very Happy New Year to all my Flylady friends 😊 xx
Day off today. At the paid stuff tomorrow. Then it's weeeeekeeeennnd. Which must mean that today is Thursday. 🤔
I'm up, made my bed, taken my meds, turned over the calendars - they're perpetual ones, changed Joey's seed and water, completed Strands with no hints, completed Wordle in four, completed Connections with no lives lost, eaten breakfast and supped two brews.
I plan to shower and get dressed. Not really thought much further than that.
Have a good day.
Rxx

I'm showered and dressed. I've done a laundry shuffle.
Now what? 🤔
Feed the birds
Put out the recycling
Coffee
Clear the coffee table
That sounds doable.
Is anyone hanging? I went to bed at 10 but was woken up by fireworks at what I assume was midnight, and then again quite some time later.
