UC/ID Verify

Have done application for UC Online. for Son I am appointee. In the to do list it says we need to verify your ID we will call you in 2 to 3 days. I have tried to verify ID online but have not been successful as 2 forms of ID are required i only have 1. Now there is a message in the journal saying ID verified but in the to do list there is still the message saying we will phone you to verify ID.

I'm bit confused what's happening?

If ID does need verifying through a phone call will UC tell me when they are going to phone me beforehand or will the phone call be out of the blue?

thanks

If a call is required to verify ID then an appointment will be made and a message put onto the Journal confirming the details.

I wonder if the Digital ID emerges if this will be used to confirm a person's details if everything is linked.

I managed to do it online, then just got a journal message stating ID check was completed. But Online the options have been very reduced. Certain P60's and Gov options have been removed.

Out of all the options available for ID the only 1 my son has is a passport.

Yes, I believe I used a driving license and passport, but not everyone has them now. You can probably ask for a home visit if he is unable to attend.  Quote the Equalities Act. 2010 his right to be treated fairly. But he can use the last P60u as ID bank details anything with National Insurance details so should be painless.

  • They might just be able to ask some ID questions on the phone.

I would wait to see what happens. The Job Centre will be in contact to book an appointment to take the claim forward. And if you are not registered as an appointee with DWP for any other claim type, they will need you to attend appointment as well to verify you as appointee.
The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.

I have the BF57 letter from DWP. I received this when I applied to be his appointee for PIP. My understanding is that this letter works for all DWP benefits.

Will UC also need to verify my ID as well as I am appointee?

Or is it my ID they require as have done a Google search and it says.

Yes, if you're an appointee for a Universal Credit (UC) claim, you need to verify your own identity, not the claimant's, as you're managing the claim

As an appointee it is your ID that needs to be verified.
