#17 t2rry declaring an additional £1,000 for June please

That's my expected re-jig of RoundUps budget and some additional income landed this month. Makes my third best month so far this year, there's a chance I can get up to second or even first depending on how the next 2 weeks play out so I might be back again yet!

    Morning all

No. 23 reporting in after a bit of AWOL. We had dentists, car and pet outlays. The holy trinity of unexpected costs that seem to be our lot. Even so, managed to add a small amount of extra to the savings pot than the usual 😊

Please can you add £550 for May and £650 for June.

    Many thanks

You may have been absent but you are ahead of 50% towards your personal target at the half-way point @ElmoR - I dont know if you are like me but I really resent dipping into the savings pot(s) even when they are there to sub into the regular monthly spends (vehicle maintenance for example - just over £1100 yesterday for a new timing belt, full service and NOT of an old vehicle. VED £375 this morning and nearly £400 to insure it on Monday!!)

@Suffolk_lass we were lucky with the cars because one garage did the minor fix for free (!) and the other one turned out to be low 100s when we were worried it might have been the end of life event for that old trusty jallopy.

The vets have a VIP plan and I had been paying that for a couple of years, so now that has definitely saved us money in the long term.

    The dentist... 🙈

Every month seems to have a one off exceptional outlay? I am certain that it didn't used to be like this? Presumably it is our ages with teeth that are giving up, the fact that we have old cars and being silly enough to have so many (also elderly) pets 😍. We should have stopped at guinea pigs.

Is your car an older model too? Or are newer cars also money pits?

My car was new in 2013 but I won't replace it until it's a money pit. We also have some expensive motorbikes (Mr Sl) and a truck. New to us (the truck), and mercifully with a year's warranty. Retail it has cost the main dealer about £12500 to fix it. Yes, indeed. Old pets and teeth (and eyes!)
