National Parking Control - DCB LEGAL Claim 2026
Comments

Morning all, an update on this after quite a while.
Letter received in the post today that is a "Notice of Allocation to the Small Claims Track (Hearing).
Letter states that a judge has considered the statements of case and directions questionnaire filed and allocated to the small claims track. Standard terms regards hearing date and time etc, but the one that concerns me or gets my attention is Number 4, where it states both parties are encouraged to contact each other to settle the case or narrow the issues.
Would you recommend getting into contact or stay silent?
A hearing date of October 9th has been given - The claimant has been ordered to pay a trial fee of £27 by 11th September or the claim will be struck out. Can I assume to a degree that this payment will not be made and the case then struck out?
Thank you

Yes you can assume that, or you can expect them to email an N279 document to you by next week, so keep checking your inbox and spam folders for it, then post a redacted picture of the N279 discontinuation document below

Hi, no email as of yet, and I have checked the MCOL website to see if any update on there and the latest dialogue just shows when it was transferred to the local court back in June 2026.
Is there a timeframe on the cancellation or could it likely go a lot closer to the court date of 09/10/2026?
Alternatively, can I contact the court to ask if the £27 fee was paid by the deadline set out? The deadline is now 10 days ago.
Thanks

Mcol will NEVER be updated once they have passed it to a civil court for processing
The claimant can cancel right up until going into the courtroom or judges chambers
Yes, that is always a good idea, once the deadline has passed , I would have checked a few business days later

OK so I spoke to the local court (I think it's a central service for all of them from what I could make out) and they confirmed that there was currently no record of the £27 fee being paid, and they confirmed that the deadline was 11/09/2026
He stated when they do their reconciliation, it will be picked up that it wasn't paid and the case then struck out.
I will report back as/when that happens!

You should email DCB LEGAL ASAP and demand a copy of the N279 discontinuation document by return, otherwise you will attend court and claim costs

An email has been sent today as follows:
"WITHOUT PREJUDICE,
We are writing in relation to the above matter.
Our client is prepared to make an offer to potentially conclude this matter. We ask that you call us on 0203 838 XXXX as a matter of urgency to discuss this further"
Shall we respond to this email requesting the above N279 discontinuation document? The email was sent from "Bulk Litigation" (bulklitigation@dcblegal.co.uk) or the standard "info@dcblegal.co.uk" while cc'ing myself as proof of delivery etc.
Or both? :-)

Just an update on this. We sent an email to the info@ email address requesting the N279 is issued as a matter of urgency.
We got a response with the N279 document within a matter of minutes!
Finally, case closed. I'd like to thank everyone who contributed. Post will remain open for others to see, and feel free to ask any questions if need be.
