    Quick update.

HM Courts & Tribunal letter came yesterday that says they acknowledge receipt of the defence and a copy is being served on the claimant. The claimant may contact you to direct to attempt to resolve any dispute. If the dispute cannot be resolved informally, the claimant will inform the court he wishes to proceed. The court will then inform you what will happen.

The claimant must contact the court within 28 days after receiving a copy of your defence. After that period has elapsed, the claim will be stayed. The only action the claimant can take will be to apply to a judge for an order lifting the stay.

We don't need to see that; no need to see or discuss the basic first emails & form, not even as an update! This is already in the 8 steps.

Afternoon all, just updating to show timescales (for others searching threads), and to check things are being done correct on my end.

The proposed allocation to small claims letter came in, with the paper N180 attached to the rear, filled out by hand. Response date on the letter is 30th March, so I will respond on this day when I am back in the office.

I have downloaded the N180 PDF from online and will fill it out using Adobe and will issue via email as per the template defence suggestion thread. I just want to confirm that the document is issued to the correct email address, and that is DQ.CNBC@justice.gov.uk

    Regards

Great, thanks for confirming and reassuring.

Where will I locate the email address for the lawyers? In my case that is DCB legal.

    Thanks

A quick query around E1 on the N180 form.

As I have dealt with this on behalf of my father in law, can I put my details on the E1 section, so I can attend on his behalf (if it got that far?)

    Thanks

You can attend as a Witness, or as a Lay Representative, or as a McKenzie friend, but he MUST attend!

What you cannot do is legally represent him, instead of him being present ( a qualified legal Representative could, or possibly in special circumstances with a legal document like an LPA. )
