Just an update on the case for anyone who reads/searches etc.

Email received from HM Courts & Tribunal Service with an appointment date confirmed and an appointment time slot.

As per what I have read on other threads, I have advised that my father in law is to say he is not willing to negotiate and offer zero should a deal try and be made.

In terms of a summary of defence to the mediator, what would you advise? Something simple such as "I deny any liability in this claim as per the documents previously submitted" - Ideally didn't want him getting into any "nitty gritty" with a mediator given I have advised him fully to date, and less is more etc etc…

    Thank you

Yep, tell the D even though the mediator will ask, he DOES NOT have to talk about his defence. A mediator is clueless.

And tell him NOT to believe the mediator if they say that continuing with the case risks more costs. No, it doesn't.

A mediator will favour the Claimant because it's their job to pressure the Defendant to make an offer.

HE DOES NOT HAVE TO INCREASE HIS OFFER, NOR MAKE ONE AT ALL.

PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
