I’ve completed my next read of the year. The Cuckoo’s Calling by Robert Galbraith (JK Rowling’s Strike novel 1) I quite enjoyed it. It was well-written with a good twist but not as fast-paced or highly tensioned as a different detective series I really enjoyed in the past. I suspect it lays a lot of the ground for future novels and I will read another.
26 books for 20261.You Are Here (easy read) 9/10
2. The Seven Murders of Evelyn Hardcastle (time-travelling murder mystery) 9.5/10
3. Love Untold (ending made a middling read worthwhile) 8/1
4. Way Back (engaging easy read with a farm theme and a few typos) 8.5/10
5. The Cuckoo’s Calling (first of the Strike detective novels) 8.5/10

Look at me with my back-to-back posts 😂 it can only mean I’ve read a book in record speed (for me!).
I’ve just finished Yellowface by Rebecca F Kuang and really loved it. I didn’t really know what to expect but was pretty much hooked from the start. I couldn’t relate to all the subject matter involved, which was part of the point, but the central storyline of a selfish, slightly deranged writer had me hooked. It was addictive and my first 10/10 of the year.

goodness where did March go? Work has been uber busy so April I am going to work at restoring a work / life balance (easier said than done I know!) I am very much enjoying my challenges and have made a tweak to the first - I took a day off work and went to the McManus Museum but found it difficult to decide for myself what I meant by an alphabet at the McManus so I have changed it to Artists (the museum has several art galleries) - they currently have a costume design exhibition so some are costume designers, and there are some wonderful works from ceramic artists. A very good afternoon.

@Ms_Potato_Head & @Dakota_Rose - the head spa was incredible! The woman washed my hair and gave me the best head massage and facial I've ever had. I was worried about falling asleep as it was so relaxing but luckily I didn't! I felt so good afterwards and realised I really need to treat myself to things like that more often.
@Dakota_Rose - I've looked at Yellowface, think I'll give it a go soon
@DundeeDoll - I think I've said before but I adore the McManus. I spent my uni days in Dundee and loved it. Will need to organise my next trip soon.
