  • There is an element of phone / message just to let them know you are still here and alive and would like your pension / lump sum / WPS refund, not expecting that to result in anything more than an escalation or closed message fob-off.

But things do happen in the background it would seem, albeit very slowly.

I received my pension quote this morning!! Sooner than I was expecting.

I resigned in Dec 22 and I got a quote from MyCSP for a retirement date of 19/5/24. In that quote it stated my reckonable service was 31 yrs and 141 days. For the refund of widow(er)’s pension - after interest added and premium taken- the refundable amount was £12,096.99. Obviously I didn’t take the pension at that time.
On the new quote it says my lump sum has been increased by £10,325.43 (if I take Option A).

Is there a reason for this discrepancy that I’m not understanding?? Also they state my reckonable service is 3- years and 134 days??

    Thank you

Just to clarify, the lump sum increase was because of the widow(er)’s contribution refund. And they have my reckonable service as 31yrs and 134 days, 7 days less than previously quoted.

Well, no money received today and no letter from Capita 😢 Hey ho. So, I guess I’m looking at 1 June at the earliest now then. I have messaged them via the Portal, and have emailed complaints again. Good luck to everyone else.

Nothing showing in my account on the HMRC website. I presume that would show the same data as the app?

  • I have the same pension payment details in the HMRC website and app. Hopefully means something will hit my account on the 5th but…

Very sorry to hear your news.

My WPS contribution refund was calclated aa follows :

    Refundable Contributions £8357.20

    Plus interest on Contributions £3149.91

    £11507.11

    Less premium payment £1884.40

    Total Contributions Refundable £9622.69

So roughly I lost 16.37 % of my WPS refund retained if I had kids /got married after I retired.

    (£1884.40 /£11507.11 x 100).

    Hope this helps

On the new quote it doesn’t give you a full breakdown, it just gives you the amount your lump sum is increased by. I’ve raised it as a query. Fortunately they have the old quote on my records. Apparently I can still put in my option papers now with a covering letter about the query raised. Not sure how long it will take to resolve. I’m guessing a long time!!!
