It's a 26/20 NSD Sunday here
It's going to be a top up food & essential shop tomorrow as I have to return some items via parcel post & fill up the car with petrol, so I'll do it all in one trip out so I can relax for the rest of the month ready to spring into action with all the 2026 MSE challenges starting with a NSD on the 1st of January

I'm thinking about which types of travel are essential spends. I have travel for fun from home which I would totally see as non-essential spending. Then I have either train, petrol, bus and occasionally uber or taxi costs to my family caring location. I propose to count the train fare, bus fare and petrol as essential spending. Uber and taxi are never essential. I am unsure about allowing the bus but t's a 45 minute walk each way and sometimes the bus timings work well. This caring technically isn't 'essentiall' as it's not a paid job but I choose to spend 2 - 4 days there a week as they struggle on their own.
It would help me I think to ensure that on travel days I am still able to get a NSD which will help me avoid buying food or a coffee where I change trains as that will 'ruin' my NSD. That is exactly the kind of spending I am trying to curtail.

@Wanna_Bee_Free you definitely don't have to include any kind of public transport! Or fuel. That's even if the outing itself is just for fun. So it's still an NSD even if you catch the bus. Re taxis, there was a discussion on here some time ago about whether it was OK to include them as an essential spend if the other options were deemed unsafe, eg late at night, and it was decided under those circumstances they were also not a spend. You may feel differently of course? in which case decide whatever is best for you. That's my two bobs' worth xx

I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas.
I have had 4 NSDs, so I'm now up to 12/15. I won't get up to my target, but I think that's not too bad considering it's the month of Christmas.Sealed Pot Challenge #021 #8 975.71 #9 £881.44 #10 £961.13 #11 £782.13 #12 £741.83 #13 £2135.22 #14 £895.53 #15 £1240.40 #16 £1805.87 #17 £1820.01 #18 £2021.83 declared1
