Thanks @Brie I’ve told CAB that after they have received replies from each creditor to say whether any write offs are successful that I will self manage.  They are guiding me towards PayPlan or step change but I’ve ignored that as I don’t intend to do either.

Just logged into Novuna and the balance says zero, from £12,315.54! The original loan was for £11,000.  I’ve been paying £241 a month for 22 months.

Well, this was an unexpected and very pleasant email to receive from CAB.

” Just contacting you to confirm we just received a phone call from Novuna to say they will be writing off the balance owed. You should receive a letter shortly. Once I have had the written confirmation of this I will send it over to you.

I’m still waiting for responses from your other creditors and will keep you updated.”

That’s just over £12,000 gone!  I did also send an affordability complaint to them which they rejected so escalated to FOS, so whether that helped too, I don’t know.

Thank you everyone for your support so far!

Doing a small victory dance here!!!  Well done you and well done CAB!!!

Thank you, it’s really made my day!

when I receive the letter is it worth asking about a refund on moneys paid or is that pushing my luck and being cheeky?

    Well done

Always worth asking for writeoffs if you can make out a case for it.

    No downside

I think that would be pretty unreasonable! And also just a waste of your time. This is a big victory already

Delighted about the write off. If I could do a jig......

Now you need 2 of the 4 other biggies to fall in line, and maybe a couple of the tiddlers.

When you approach the financial settlement, you are going to need funds for legal support and reasons not to share pensions etc, so having some out-standing debt may not be a disaster.

Have you started divorce proceedings? It's relatively cheap to DIY. It's the financial settlement that costs.

I’ve not started anything about divorce yet.  My understanding that as there is a charge against him for which he pleaded guilty for assault by beating, that’ll help in any future financial settlements.  I may be wrong though so will need legal advice when I cross that bridge.

This is brilliant for you ☺️
The interest these companies charge is disgusting and should be illegal 😡
