    More along the lines is it a lot for someone like me as in washing machine once a week, almost never uses oven/hobs.

    Just feels like me only doing one washing machine load a week (which I struggle to get more than half full at that often even struggle to get to half full unless it's bedding) and 4 minute showers isn't saving me much.

    Just confused when the IHD is showing I am using around 8 or 9p a hour, and my average day in house being say 10-12 hours going by upper range i'd use lets say £1.20, lets say 40p for a shower, 55p for standing charge and we are at £2.15 per day, there will be days with higher and lower usage but even then that's around 66.45 per month,

    I just realised that SP changed my tariff back in July so may be billing me more, as previous bills I was around £70 in credit at all times even in winter.

    So how does that compare to the bill you got?

    They estimate me at £125 a month, can't remember the exact number as my bill isn't in front of me though I can check online but they had me at over 900 units.

    Going by my estimates I'd say I'd be around £70 a month but I am not sure the best way to check as only have a weeks readings.

    I'm guessing the standing charge is a big chunk of that and that its 30p per unit.

    I'm with Scottish Power, and yes I think I am on a standard tariff and have day/night rates.

    So what tariff does it show on your bills?
    Do you have 2 different charges for electric?
    What does you bill show Estimated or actual for units used?

    Perhaps a screen shot of your bill, with all personal details & meter no blacked out.

    You only gave one reading from IHD earlier, was that day, night or total?

    @FrugaiMacDugal

    Not sure but I think the IHD can't show both readings.

    @dekaspace   Can you  have a second look at the meter itself. Normally with an electric meter the display is live at all times.  Are there some buttons marked A or B ?  Press one and note the readings as they scroll through -  you are looking for some marked R1 or R2 or similar. There will also be a Ttl with the reading you had above
    Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill
