Santander Amazon opening offer x2

I would not complain to TCB if there were some problem with qualifying for the Voucher (not justified by the T&Cs). The offer is a Santander one not a TCB one. (Note that there are two companies named at the top of the T&Cs: Santander and VoucherSent). I would complain to Santander, which is the party ultimately responsible for the offer and abiding by the T&Cs.
I know what the T&Cs say. I also know it wouldn't be the first time that T&Cs are not enforced. Small chance only, as I said.
I also have experience with TCB complaints, hence my friendly advice
One other advantage of complaining to Santander is the fact that, if they fail to resolve the complaint, the customer can then take the matter to the Financial Ombudsman. Not clear to me who you are supposed to complain to if you are unhappy with complaint resolution by TCB.
I am highly doubtful that there would be any reason to raise a complaint with Santander or that a complaint would then be rejected (I expect them to pay up, irrespective of which account you opened first, as long as you meet the T&Cs). But if matters did come to that, the fact that you can then escalate to the Ombudsman provides extra reassurance that Santander would not be able to welch on the offer.

Any complaints need to be made to Optimise Media (VoucherSent).
From the T&Cs - "Santander UK plc has no liability in relation to the provision of this offer."3 -
Good point. Thanks!danny13579 said:Any complaints need to be made to Optimise Media (VoucherSent).

The reason I assumed I'd automatically be disqualified was because I have had too many experiences where any such offer is withheld with the most frail of excuses, this being the case for most of my experiences with such offers. It's also well known you can only claim the offers opening a new account with any bank if you've not held an account with that bank or any of their subsidiaries with XX years, to put it in a nut shell; bitter experience and having had more obvious terms and conditions which are usually present on application in the proverbial big loud red ink. It has not been the case in this situation, but I've no idea if this has since been updated I've not been aware of. I'm not as hooked to my devices and media as many others seem to be.Jabod said:
I'm puzzled why you (and subsequent posters) are assuming "the first opened account becomes the default for the voucher and the second no longer counts". Why would it no longer count? I am in exactly the same position as you so I am genuinely interested in hearing why other posters believe that the second account would be disqualified in this situation.Yorkshire_Pud said:
I’ve received the email. As I opened two current accounts after the first Amazon voucher link ‘failed’ I’ve been spending on the second account where the link did work correctly with acknowledgement email from vouchersafe to get the 30 debit card payments made. The email relates to the first account that TCB say they have a record of me clicking the link that didn’t get recorded but they are making sure the merchant knows I did. Dilemma, the first opened account becomes the default for the voucher and the second no longer counts so now I need to spend 30 times dc on both accounts to be sure or lose out or double bubble?! Looks like I’ll be spending even more time checking out small items at the self service of the local supermarket.
Personally, starting all over again to make 30 debit card transactions with the first card would be a total pain in the proverbial and I would find it easier to complain to Santander in the unlikely event that the second account is somehow disqualified. I cannot see why they would have any grounds for disqualifying the second account or rejecting a complaint if they did.
The 30 transactions is a PITA, you're right. But it's just about possible for me to achieve, I don't tend to spend a lot from shop to shop, am regularly buying one item or two smaller priced items at a time and then going to the shop next door where I can save money on other items...yes, my life is rather small and sad as I do have to invest a lot of my time in searching out savings on things I regularly buy and going from shop to shop for individual items like that. I live in a fairly busy town with many shops around, I'm pretty sure I could make the 60 purchases in a week or at least a fortnight without much of an issue.
Thank you for your time though and I suppose I'll wait and see if I manage to acquire the £100 voucher, for me that's a lot of money and I'd be really grateful if I am able to get both vouchers, the initial £30 voucher was received about a week ago, that would make it just under a month from my application.0 -
Thank you for taking the time to explain to medanny13579 said:
The £30 gift cards have already been sent and received. I have no idea why you "paid in £5 and left it there to make sure I get the Amazon voucher!" as this wasn't a requirement.jenniewb said:Just wondered if anyone could answer this without me starting a whole new thread...
I opened a Santander card back when the offer was a £30 Amazon gift card which apparently arrives in February. I had the Santander account details arrived, promptly paid in £5 and left it there to make sure I get the Amazon voucher!
You register using the MSE or MoneySupermarket or Top Cashback (there are several others) link with VoucherSent and in the same session open a new Santander current account. You have to make 30 payments using the debit card that comes with that account within 60 days of opening the account.jenniewb said:Next week I see the email mentioning £100 and thought I might as well try...I read the email and I'm sure it mentioned something about needing to do more than just opening the account- not switching or anything like that but just paying something in or using it a certain amount of times per month. Does anyone know?jenniewb said:
Yes, you can get both.I'm not even sure if I'll get both- the email said to try anyway as there's nothing really to lose, I'm not building a credit rating and the £100 if I do get it would really help in the new year! It would be a shame to miss out on it if I can jump through the hoops, but I don't know what those hoops are and neither did the call assistant when I tried calling them up either.
I would suggest you read the first page of this thread (if you don't want to read through the whole lot) which tells you all you need to know
I was a bit put off after the reply before you which was both unhelpful and assumes I hadn't tried looking, it's just there are a lot of posts and despite trying, dyslexia and not knowing where to start looking made this a bit beyond me. Thank you for explaining, I now have a game-plan and will hopefully look forward to a second voucher in the new year which will really really help me out, I'm already struggling financially and we've not yet hit Christmas...I'm dreading the rest of the season, £100 is a lot of money to me and will do a lot to help taper at the edges of things! 0 -

With these offers it's very important to follow every condition. I find it helps to print out the terms of the offer and tick off each one as you do it. Make sure you use a browser that doesn't have cookies disabled to register with VoucherSent and open your Santander current account in the same session so the cookie tracks it.
Very important is to keep the email from Santander after you open your current account which contains your OLA (application number) as you'll need this if the session didn't track properly and you need to manually put in a claim with VoucherSent.
But come on here if you have any issues with that, it won't be until February next year.1 -
Thank you for the detailed response to my question. It's also well known you can only claim the offers opening a new account with any bank if you've not held an account with that bank or any of their subsidiaries with XX years,
Regarding the point I have quoted above, this is true for many bank offers but I do not think this is true of the £100 voucher offer, where the T&Cs do not disqualify you if you hold an existing Santander account or have held an account in the past. (Notice how this is different from the latest £200 Switch offer, which says that you don't qualify if you held an account on 1 Jan 2025 or have ever received a Switch bonus in the past).0 -
Yes, you can already have Santander accounts open, that doesn't matter with this offer. The only requirement is to open a new Edge, Edge Up, Edge Explorer or Everyday current account via VoucherSent and do the 30 debit card purchases within 60 days.Jabod said:Regarding the point I have quoted above, this is true for many bank offers but I do not think this is true of the £100 voucher offer, where the T&Cs do not disqualify you if you hold an existing Santander account or have held an account in the past. Just a note ... there's a new £25 Amazon giftcard VoucherSent offer (I was hoping for £500 for 500 carrots) ... https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/banking/compare-best-bank-accounts/#switch

I've started a new thread for this offer. 500 carrots? £1 for a carrot? These must be pretty special carrots.dealyboy said:Just a note ... there's a new £25 Amazon giftcard VoucherSent offer (I was hoping for £500 for 500 carrots) ... https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/banking/compare-best-bank-accounts/#switch
