Ex rental car

All our hire cars were described as demonstrators0

Ha ha yeah that one always amazes me. You go for a test drive - any test drive - and the dealer only ever has two demonstrators - say, the 2.2 litre diesel and the 1.8 supercharged petrol - both in the “Avantgarde” spec with the 19” alloys - demonstrators which only get changed once every six months.Grey_Critic said:All our hire cars were described as demonstrators
Yet if you ask if the dealer whether they have any “ex-demos” in stock they have 145 cars to choose from in every spec and engine size…
It doesn’t take a mathematician to work that one out!0 -
Have bought several ex rental cars over the years. Never had any trouble with them. They often have a high mileage from rental use in the first years of their ownership, but the rate flattens over time in second ownership.1

There is no requirement to disclose if the car is ex-hire. There IS a requirement if its been a taxi, AKA PRIVATE hire.mikrt said:I'm pretty sure this is the same as car's that have been written off.
While private sellers must not lie, they don't have to declare if a vehicle has been written off, or an ex hire car.
But, a dealer must mention it in the advert.
I don't think they can plead ignorance either, I don't believe any dealer has a car they haven't HPId, so they would know.1 -
Or in Mercedes speak - ex-Management cars 🤣🤣Grey_Critic said:All our hire cars were described as demonstrators1 -

That case, like the Honest John example is reliant on now revoked legislation - it's from 2018.mikrt said:0 -
My Qashqai is ex enterprise. Bought it at 18 months old with high mileage, top spec Tekna auto, £20k. Very good value. Perfectly happy 4 years on. Mileage now below average. Fairly certain it was registered in the V5 as EnterpriseOfficially in a clique of idiots0

My wife has a 2014 Renault Capture ex Hertz rental bought at 18 months old from a dealer with 18,000 miles or there abouts still got it ,now done 71,500 miles , we have 3 cars so not used everyday serviced every 2 years , oil and filters etc Had timing belt done at 50,000 due to ageThe only problem we have had was rear brake shoes fell apart and that was only £200 for new brake shoes and brake cylinders changed . Would have no hesitation buying ex rental again0

OP was happy with the mileage/price/condition
why does it matter who put the miles on?
