Ryanair Fully Mobile App QR Boarding Passes

This isnt my real world experience of Ryanair, they have had absolutely no issue using the one contained within my Google Wallet.flaneurs_lobster said:
You could probably have the QR code tattooed on your forehead and it would still be a valid code BUT, to go back to the OP, Ryanair seem to be insisting that the QR code be shown on their app.Barkin said:
Indeed. Boarding passes can also be saved in Google Wallet. Again, no connectivity required. Likewise a screenshot. Or save as e.g. a PDF.zagfles said:
Every airline's mobile app I've used works fine without a signal to display a mobile boarding pass. I don't know why people seem to think you can't use mobile apps without a signal, of course you can, apps can store stuff locally (like boarding passes).flaneurs_lobster said:
Think you'll find that the EJ app will store those boarding cards locally (all cards for the same booking) so will be OK without a mobile signal. You can also double up and hold them in the Google Wallet (if you're Android, I'm sure there's an Apple equivalent).Slinky said:With regards trying to get a signal at checkin, we take screen grabs of the QR codes and share with each other when we fly EJ.
No idea if the Ryanair app does the same thing.
Doesn't get round the dead phone problem although two or more travelling together can have the same cards on alternate devices.
I don't know why folks invent "problems" that don't exist...🤔0 -
Apparently he does have a regular personal office at Airside Business Park HQ in Co. Dublin.Maybe not something his underlings have though

The real world experience is that up until the latest pronouncement you could have your code printed on a bit of paper.la531983 said:

Indeed. I suspect in practice they wont care if its the QR code on the app or a Wallet, though.flaneurs_lobster said:

I wouldnt worry about it given your earlier proclamation on the airline

Indeed you are quite right, I shouldn't care since I never intend on using them again.Indeed. I suspect in practice they wont care if its the QR code on the app or a Wallet, though.

But something about this airline annoys me beyond that which is rational.

Fair enough. Personally I have never had an issue with them and have been able to go to places no other airline goes to cheaply or at all. Every flight on time (bar once when airport staff decided to load a disabled person last rather than first), staff friendly enough, and with the stairs they can pull out the plane themselves means no hanging around for ground staff to pull stairs up in order to get into most airports.flaneurs_lobster said:

I appreciate praise of Ryanair isnt fashionable though, so I will shut up now.2 -
I suspect in practice most third party handling agents won't really care if they are scanning a digital QR code or a printed copy of the QR code. I'm not saying don't comply with Ryanair's rules though, that would be a folly.Indeed. I suspect in practice they wont care if its the QR code on the app or a Wallet, though.

Try not to spend much time dwelling on it. They're Europe's largest airline, more people fly with them than any other, and by any measure the CEO has done an incredible job, evidenced by the fact the shareholders keep incentivising him to stay.Indeed you are quite right, I shouldn't care since I never intend on using them again.

Oh dear !SevenOfNine said:Not sure it this has already been posted. Email from Ryanair to advise "going fully mobile app QR boarding passes from 12 Nov, PAPERLESS".
Complaints from various older generation via AGE UK etc as not everyone has a Smartphone! At least it's pushed Ryanair to advise "check in on-line before arrival & a staff member at the airport will assist", video doesn't explain if that will be the same on return flight check-in. All a bit vague.

Yes guess some will struggle. My elderly parents would never cope with paper passes.
Recently my daughter damaged her phone en route to the airport & boarded using the paper copy she had printed.
I also print a paper copy for myself when travelling
Food for thought 🤔0 -
And that wouldnt be an issue here, its as if nobody on this thread has actually looked into this in more depth.Suzycoll said:SevenOfNine said:Not sure it this has already been posted. Email from Ryanair to advise "going fully mobile app QR boarding passes from 12 Nov, PAPERLESS".
