Ryanair Fully Mobile App QR Boarding Passes

Not sure it this has already been posted. Email from Ryanair to advise "going fully mobile app QR boarding passes from 12 Nov, PAPERLESS".

Complaints from various older generation via AGE UK etc as not everyone has a Smartphone! At least it's pushed Ryanair to advise "check in on-line before arrival & a staff member at the airport will assist", video doesn't explain if that will be the same on return flight check-in. All a bit vague.

Seen it all, done it all, can't remember most of it.

Excellent, another reason (which I didn't need) to never set foot on one of their soul-destroying miserable flights ever again.

Indeed, I just hope Jet2 and TUI etc. don't get any similar urges.
A printed boarding pass is a sound backup in case your smartphone runs out of battery power or you can't get a signal at checkin.

I get the advantage of dynamic changes to your seat allocation if they switch aircraft - but otherwise is there any reason why they couldn't accept a printed QR code?

    Exactly.
They've obviously never heard of the 'belt and braces' approach.

With regards trying to get a signal at checkin, we take screen grabs of the QR codes and share with each other when we fly EJ.

I wonder what they will stay to customers who purchased tickets before the change was announced.  As it's Ryanair the response will probably be "tough"

If people actually looked at what the procedure is going to be, rather than thinking that those without phones are stuffed.....

Think you'll find that the EJ app will store those boarding cards locally (all cards for the same booking) so will be OK without a mobile signal. You can also double up and hold them in the Google Wallet (if you're Android, I'm sure there's an Apple equivalent).

No idea if the Ryanair app does the same thing.

Doesn't get round the dead phone problem although two or more travelling together can have the same cards on alternate devices.

Ryanair app allows adding boarding passes to Apple and Google Wallets for offline use.  A screenshot would work too.

As the video above says "if for some reason you can't access the Ryanair app when travelling, you will be assisted at the airport as long as you have checked in online".  Mr O'Leary has also confirmed this in interviews with the press.

Has Mr O'L confirmed that such "assistance" will be free of charge?
