Ryanair Fully Mobile App QR Boarding Passes

We are talking Ryanair so anything is possibleGrumpy_chap said:I really can't imagine that these self-service bag drop facilities will know or care whether you scanned a barcode on the phone or a barcode from a piece of paper, unless there are focused CCTV and a swat team ready to pounce and fine anyone daring to use a piece of paper rather than phone screen.

You could probably have the QR code tattooed on your forehead and it would still be a valid code BUT, to go back to the OP, Ryanair seem to be insisting that the QR code be shown on their app.Barkin said:
Indeed. Boarding passes can also be saved in Google Wallet. Again, no connectivity required. Likewise a screenshot. Or save as e.g. a PDF.zagfles said:
Every airline's mobile app I've used works fine without a signal to display a mobile boarding pass. I don't know why people seem to think you can't use mobile apps without a signal, of course you can, apps can store stuff locally (like boarding passes).flaneurs_lobster said:
Think you'll find that the EJ app will store those boarding cards locally (all cards for the same booking) so will be OK without a mobile signal. You can also double up and hold them in the Google Wallet (if you're Android, I'm sure there's an Apple equivalent).Slinky said:With regards trying to get a signal at checkin, we take screen grabs of the QR codes and share with each other when we fly EJ.
No idea if the Ryanair app does the same thing.
Doesn't get round the dead phone problem although two or more travelling together can have the same cards on alternate devices.
I don't know why folks invent "problems" that don't exist...🤔
I've no interest in the premise of the OP. If I had, I'd have responded directly to that...
I can't recall when I last used a printed boarding pass, it was that long ago. Not even to destinations, e.g. Morocco, where electronic ones aren't acceptable!
To safeguard against device failure...if I'm travelling with MrsB then everything's copied onto her phone.
If I'm travelling alone, I duplicate everything onto a 7" tablet that doubles as an e-book reader.
My issue was, and is, only with the somewhat laughable assertion that the whole process being introduced will fail spectacularly if no connectivity is available at the airport.
For anybody who doesn't like this new Ryanair policy, there's a really simple solution (although probably only a temporary one...)2 -
I've used a printed boarding pass 3 times this year.Barkin said:flaneurs_lobster said:

I don't have a 7" tablet.
I don't have an e-book reader.
As I mentioned up-thread, I adopt a 'belt and braces' approach.
Printed boarding pass.
Electronic boarding pass.
I prefer to use the printed pass.

Frankly, I don't care what anyone does, or thinks. Merely put the Ryanair link on which makes it quite clear "we are going fully mobile"!
THAT was for those who don't already know, or might have concerns IF they don't possess the technology.Seen it all, done it all, can't remember most of it.0 -
Is the "we are going fully mobile" a largely marketing phrase?SevenOfNine said:Frankly, I don't care what anyone does, or thinks. Merely put the Ryanair link on which makes it quite clear "we are going fully mobile"!

I can see that it might sound attractive to the cool, younger generation.0 -
And you can use their app to display the boarding pass without a signal. So no need to use google wallet etc.flaneurs_lobster said:

But in any case when it comes down to it the QR code should work however it's displayed, I've used screenshots loads of times. Not tried the forehead tattoo though.
However I'd agree that a printed pass is useful as a backup when travelling alone, phones can break, get stolen etc. If travelling with others I'd never bother with a printed pass, just make sure all boarding passes are on all phones, but I do usually print when when travelling alone.

Is there a different code required for every time the individual checks-in?zagfles said:

Will frequent flyers run out of forehead space?1 -
Those who run Ryanair's social media channels will no doubt take great pleasure in telling them where to stick it....Grumpy_chap said:

Has Mr O'L confirmed that such "assistance" will be free of charge?bagand96 said:
As the video above says "if for some reason you can't access the Ryanair app when travelling, you will be assisted at the airport as long as you have checked in online". Mr O'Leary has also confirmed this in interviews with the press.Yes,Then he retreated to his office, locked the door, went into a corner and screamed loudly in frustration !!!

Don't think Ryanair offices have doors - fancy la-de-da extras that are really not needed in a basic workplace.NoodleDoodleMan said:flaneurs_lobster said:
