Sainsbury's to Natwest transfer

My Sainsbury's Bank credit card is moving to Natwest.

The Natwest website says that I should have been invited to register for online banking during September (whether by email or letter). I have received no such invite. Do I need to speak with Sainsbury's or Natwest at this point? The Sainsbury's app now appears to be kaput, but the Natwest website relating to the transfer has a message along the lines of "we'll let you know when you need to contact us".

Got my invite (via email) 2 weeks or so ago, with User Name information. The Activation Code was sent separately via SMS about a week ago.

The NatWest app should be live for Sainsbury's cards on Tuesday (7th). Suspect you need to talk to NatWest at this point.

@TadleyBaggie - Thank you - I'll dig out the physical card and give them a call tomorrow.

    I have the same problem.

I contacted Sainsbury's Bank a couple of days ago who said to sort it with NatWest next week.

The NatWest twitter team were really helpful and all that's needed to do from Tuesday if nothing is received by then, is to go on the website to register for online banking, select 'credit card customer only', fill in the info and that will give you a customer number and allow you to set a pin and password.
Basically it's just doing the registration from scratch using your sainsbury's card number.

I do recommend sending a DM to their Twitter team @ NatWest_Help if you have any issues next week - they replied in less than 15 minutes and also said they'd get in touch on Tuesday to make sure I'm not having any problems and to check that everything has moved over.

I'm all set up here.  Only (minor) irritation is that we won't have access to older statements from today I believe.  I have downloaded the most recent statement which has a breakdown of all the 0% transfers I have (amounts, dates) in case this gets mangled or lost in the transition.

My Sainsburys app is showing as no longer available, but no card showing in my NatWest account yet. The message on the Sainsburys iOS app states that access to the card in NatWest will only be available "from" the 7th of October".

I haven't been asked by Sainsburys for any details relating to my existing NatWest account ,

There isn't a chance that you have (or have had) a NatWest account that they have matched to you and are using those details for the migration is there?
    • The rich buy assets.
    • The poor only have expenses.
    • The middle class buy liabilities they think are assets.

Now that you mention it, I possibly might have had something like a cash ISA with them at some point but it would have been over 15 years ago and I don't have any records. So I'll see if I have any problems registering on Tuesday.

Edit: looking through the NatWest website it says that for forgotten log in details, including customer number, re-registering is the way to go.

I got the email on 19th Sept from Natwest with the customer number and then got a text on 22 September with my online activation code. I assumed they would send the latter by post - you could easily think that random text was spam as it didn't reference this was re the credit card transfer. You then go online and pick a 4 digit pin and password to login - you can then use that to register for the Natwest app which you set up a 5-8 digit pin for.

Registered ok on the app/online with Natwest but statements/transactions won't appear until Tuesday. I find it a bit unfortunate you essentially have 4-5 days (from Thursday night to Tuesday morning) when you can't check/query transactions online or check statements if your payment is due - as you fall between systems.

Why couldn't Sainsburys have kept their internet banking/app available until tomorrow (at least to view statements/transactions) - with Natwest going live Tuesday?

I do find it poor also that they couldn't have at least migrated over the current/most recent statements.

And also how do we pay our statements online - if people use the old Sainsburys payment details initially will it be rejected or will they ensure it is paid over to Natwest for the first month or two? I made an online banking payment into my account on Thursday (due date was tomorrow) - so am hoping Sainsburys will have picked it up and debited it from my account ok pre the transfer?

Probably worrying unnecessarily - but there is always a concern when a large migration happens. Recognise we can contact via x - but not everyone is on x!

Likewise - I received an activation code but no email informing me of customer number etc.
I got in touch with Sainsbury's who basically washed their hands of it saying that there was nothing they could do and to contact NatWest when the switch is completed.
I've gone looking for help on the NatWest website and there's nothing. Tried raising any sort of help/complaint and it says to use their online banking app! Reminds me why I left NatWest many years ago.

@DonnySaver Just re-register from scratch tomorrow. I found this in the FAQs: https://www.natwest.com/support-centre/sainsburysbank-transfer-scheme.html#faqs
