What is the problem with my phone

Hi all,

i have had my poco m6 pro for about 18 months now (private purchase)and i started having problems with charging about a month or 2 ago where the fast charge facility stopped working. I did post on here about that and tried everything that was recommended including a battery recalibration but nothing seemed to work so i resigned myself to having to charge at normal speed (but at least i had a working phone) BUT in the last few days my phones battery has now started to drain much much quicker than before so im now wondering if the problem is with the battery or the phone?
I know at this stage someone might suggest i do a factory reset and install every app again which i suppose is an option but its quite a last option really or is it time to change my phone?
If a new phone is best would i be best to wait until black friday?

Any help or suggestions would be most appreciated

Kind regards Mark

Go to settings, battery usage to see if it is a rogue application causing the issue?

As above, there may be something drianing the battery quicker than usual.  Many things can have an affect; poor 4g signal (where it's always searching and never finding), phone brightness, screen resolution, bluetooth being on is always a drain, or could be an App that refuses to shut down in the background.

Also (excuse the simplicity of the question) - are you sure all of your charging equipment is good?  A slightly damaged cable can totally refuse to fast charge.  I've had this a number of times where the cat has partially chewed it; it looks fine but it only takes a few strands inside to get damaged and it can no longer function 100%.  Same goes for the plug.  And have you tried different sockets on your house?  We have one that will slow charge a phone but will not power on a TV!  We are getting all the electrics checked next week

Hi, thank for both of your replies.
I've tried different cables and charging plugs but nothing works. I've also looked at my apps listed in settings and haven't found any rogue apps. My vehicle insurance does require having their app installed on my phone along with location services on but that started beginning of August. I'm not opposed to a factory reset but wanted to keep that back as a last resort.

Is there a Battery Health option on Settings?  I'm not familiar with Xiaomi devices.  If it's there does it tell anything useful?

Failing that (or as well as) you can try the diagnostic menu.  Search for how, or check this out:

It is widely(?) believed that fast charging shortens lithium battery life, so maybe the battery is approaching end of life. There are  videos on YouTube showing how to replace the "non-replaceable" battery in that phone.
I wouldn't attempt it, but maybe a phone repair place could do it.

Hi, thanks for your reply. I did try changing the battery on my previous Poco phone but it was unsuccessful so this might be a job for a repair shop

Hi, thanks for your reply. I have tried changing batteries before but it didn't work so I'm going to see how things go with a few settings I've changed and then go from there
