After the nightmare of the closed Ebay sale all is well again. I picked up a putter for £50 for DH well not super cheap but new they are about £80 so not too tragic. Still looking at sets for both of us but DH fancy one at £130 so he may just get that. Now also found an 11 wood for my mum which is super rare. It is something she has wanted for ages (spare back up for 1 she has) because her 1st one was stolen. It is up to £7.55 and she is prepared to pay up to £60 for it which hopefully she won't have too.

Still not booked that airport hotel but have ordered a new driving license online after I lost it for the second time in 3 months. I hope to get it in time as you cannot drive in Denmark without having your license on you it is an intant spot fine.

Not sure if I can clear something extra off the mortgage at the end of this month suspect not if we buy more clubs. Better get off to book that hotel now and parking.

Edit booked hotel now £211 so gone up by £15 so booked it. Staying overnigh and should be no hassle as you take your car there they park it in long term and bring it back. Ideal I hope.

Got the club for my mum at £34 so that was fine she wanted to spend £50 but the Danish Krone is as we know quite strong so she is happy. Not got anything for myself but there is kind of my dream set on there. It starts at £500 but it would have been £1500 from new. I don't want the bag or the putter but they could be sold on. I should think the putter alone would fetch £70 or so. It ends on Friday so I shall wait and see. I should add this seller is genuine everything stacks up and he has emailed me some more info. Not dodgy like the other one.

I have had my current irons for 7 years and my woods for at least 9 years and it is my hobby so maybe I should spend some money on them. Then I can take my current set to Denmark and have the new set as my proper set at home.

Right that is enough about spending money. I have got my friends daughter coming around later to sort out the cat sitting but not sure what to pay her. She is 16 and lives 10min walk away. I need her to come once a day to feed the cat and water my pots and I think that will take her max 10 min. It will be for 12 days what do you think is fair?

Hmm - I would say £20 seems ok to me, I sure she would think thats great, I know my daughter would.

Have a great time in Denmark and good luck with the Golf clubs if you decide to go for them.

Thanks I am going to pay her £35 and she was happy with that. She is a really nice kid and I know he will be well looked after.

DH is taking me out to look in a couple of golf shops this afternoon, might as well try some clubs to see what I like. Makes it easier to buy on Ebay although that pulled listing did scare me for a while.

£35 is very generous - I'll do it for that! Bit of a way for me to come but still worth it!

Have a good time at the golf shops, I personally can't think of anything worse, but Ii hope you enjoy it.

Looking around the golf shops were useful we both like the look of the X20 Callaway irons and DH managed to get a set last night for £99.99 we were the only bidder on it. I only has 5 iron to PW so now he wants something instead of a 4 iron. Hopefully we can pick up a 4 Hybrid for £30 or so and that is him sorted. My dream set still has no bids on it but with a £500 starting price I am not surprised. I hope no one bid on it and if that is the case I am prepared to go to £520.

Golf is an important part of your life and time with OH. I assume the club fees etc are in your annual budget, so why not include a saving allowance to cover replacing the clubs every 5 (?) years just like you would a car? That will then mean you know you've saved for it and it is budgeted so you hopefully won't feel guilty; indeed you could wait a further year to get a better club etc?

    Life is about enjoyment too.

Thanks Stuart I like what you are saying I should really budget for things like this but that's not what I do for myself. For other people yes but just not me.

So trying to justify this to myself the "new" golf club project started out as a way to get a cheap but branded second hand set to leave in Denmark for these reasons:
    1. Saving a potential £80 per trip to take the clubs (if/when BA starts charging)
    2. Saving money on air tickets as we do not have to fly BA
    3. Being able to play whenever we are over there not just in Summer.
    4. Be able to take the train to my mum's house rather than having to be picked up (trains are cheap).
DH has now got most of his second set for £150 which in fact is newer than what he currently has so he may swap. He got the irons for £100 and they are 2 years old. A brand new set of this years model would have cost him over £400 so he has done well. He still needs a 4 hybrid but they are £30.

I might spend £550 max for my dream set on there but I also need woods so that would actually be cheap for something that would otherwise have cost me over £1500. I do not compromise on golf clubs but buying them 2nd hand is fine by me.

Sorry if this is not very money saving and I could cut a whole month off my MF date we did not buy these clubs but I think I want to and I won't feel guilty.

At least I don't spend £100's on shoes as I am a size 7 1/2 and being naturally blond I don't dye my hair (more justifications I think I better stop now)
