    Have a good day all!

You are more than welcome to the snow, coming from Denmark it does not have the same attraction to me. Must be nice in Australia, would like to go just such a long flight.

Thank you Blade so nice to know that someone actually reads what I write although I do it mainly for myself I must admit.

MB is good but you need to know what you are doing. I shall be happy to help you along you need the spreadsheet in order to work out the bets etc etc. Let me know when you are ready to start and we can get you going with some easy ones.

Wow 4 chilren under 5 that would be a killer and no thanks I don't want that. DH and I are still trying but not a lot is happening. I would like it to but I am not going to let it take over my life. I am away a lot so if that happens to be when we should be doing it so be it. There is always next month.

Just come back from the gym, showed my neighbour how to do my programme it was good and I found it easier second time around. She does about 3 classes a week so can do press ups sits ups you name it with ease. I can't even do side plank but I can do 20min on the crosstrainer something she could only manage 5 min on. Strange. Going again tomorrow.

Morning, nice and sunny again so that’s nice. Not too busy a week this week but do need to fill my diary a bit more. Meeting with the manager on Thursday so will have to come up with something for that one.

Quit evening in, felt a bit tired maybe it was working out in the gym. Going again this morning to Bodybalance at 11.30 taking it as early lunch. Better set my phone or I shall forget.

Got my mum’s birthday present off Ebay yesterday. She wanted a small wallet and said she liked the sound of the one I bought on the BA flight coming back from Denmark. As you know I had already bought one that was too big but yesterday I managed to get a perfect one, same as mine but brown. £14 incl postage bargain as it is brand new and the one at BA is £24 and £3.50 postage. It’s her birthday on the 3rd March so have plenty of time. She sounded a bit fed up when she called Saturday her partner is in hospital he has really bad lungs and need oxygen 24 hours a day. As he is now really bad their cruise might be in jeopardy as the doctor will only sign him fit if he has not been in hospital for 3 months. They were due to go in May so fingers crossed. It’s a bit crap really but what can you do.

Sorry to turn this thread into a bit of a depressing saga but got the scales this morning and I have not lost a thing. Think I shall have to get off the booze for the rest of the week now.

Just had to tell you this played with the Nationwide Houseprice Calcultor for the first time. I kind of knew it exsisted but this is what is said about ours.

A property located in UK which was valued at £86599 in Q3 of 1995, would be worth approximately £264563 in Q4 of 2008.
This is equivalent to a change of 205.5%.

The 1995 price is what we paid for it and since then we have spent £30k on extending it and building two more bedrooms. Also put in double glazing, double driveway and had the curb dropped. Obviously then there is the new bathrooms but they will not have added much. I would be happy happy to think our house was worth £264k now actually I think it would fetch £250k because of the stamp duty bandings. Top price for a house in our street is £250k and that was 2 years ago and is about the same size as ours.

Anyway we are not selling but at least if that calculation is true it can fall a bit more before it makes any difference.

Right having a potential problem with my cashback for my Fitness First Signup. I paid £30 but if I registered online I would get it back. The guy who signed me up said he would do it but did not tell me I would get an email with a link to complete it all. So I did not get one and I can't find out if they did register me. Spoken to Head Office who gave me an email which just sends you a standard reply which has nothing to do with what I want to know. Spoken to my club and the manager will ring me back this afternoon. Well we shall have to wait and see. So annoyed I did not register myself. Don't dare do it now as it is well past the 7 day time limit.

Got £10 from Stan James for getting spot the ball right. Got the answer from GILOP so really easy. DH turned it into £30 profit very nicely done.

Going to my old neighbours house tonight for dinner, they have just split up but my other neighbour is coming too so I am sure it will be a nice evening. I am not driving but will stay off the booze (well almost off it).

    Hi Tall Girl,
Interesting to see others use house price calculators too. I use the Halifax House price index - which I've been applying each month since we bought our current house. At several points during last year, in some months, our daily loss in value equated to over £250

Don't get to hung up on the numbers - I just do it out of interest. Obviously, a house is only ever worth what someone is willing to pay for it!

From the property value each month, I also take an averaged monthly mortgage and determined a monthly loan to value. Was dropping nicely until the property value started dropping like a stone and it's flattened out somewhat.

Thanks Financialbliss I had not thought of looking back. Actually now that I have done it I am not sure I really wanted to know.

According to that if I go back to 1st Quarter of 2008 my house is now worth £37,000 less. I think it is totally over optimistic as the most expensive house in my street sold 2 years ago for £250,000 so how mine would have been worth £294.540 in Jan 2008 is a bit beyond me. It is quite easy to compare prices in my road and the roads around as they were all build at the same time and are all very similar in size and style. Will keep and eye on it though.

Had a nice evening with my friends real girls talk. Just split up from her husband of 11 years they have 2 children. Main reason lack of passion and interest in her. Now I know this sounds a bit strange but I can kind of understand her. He has never really been interested in her sexually, never said he really loves her and never complimented her. Well that is her side of the story but sad still that they have had to go their seperate ways.

They have just finished renovation their house and he earns loads of money so she has been part-time for years. They are going to have to sell the house to both buy something but she says it was valued at £550k 2 years ago and they only have £100k mortgage so not a bad position to be in even if it has dropped since. FinancialBliss I did tell her about the Nationwide site.

It has been a real re-union for me lately with suddenly being loads in touch with old friends. Basically we were 4 couples all moving into our little cul-de-sac in 1994. No one was married, no kids and roughly the same age. Now 14 years later all are married (well 1 has split up) but only 1 couple have kids. 2 of us are still in the same houses but we have extended. 1 couple is obviously splitting up and 1 couple wants to come back to the area.

Anyway enough about old friends I should do some more comparisons another day it could be fun.

Morning, off to London today. Had a nice time yesterday with friend but forgot my 2nd appointment. That is really really bad at least the person I was seeing is quite friendly.

Just had a email from friend I saw Tuesday she is planning our out night together and just as me and my neighbour suspected she wants to go out. Ok she is now single and wants to hit the bars and clubs but I am not a clubbing type person never have been. Neighbour and I both agreed we don't want to go out would prefer a nice night in but 3rd friend is not happy. Says she is stuck with the kids all the time so wants to go out. What can I do? Of course I can afford to go out just hate pubs with loud music and 20something year olds with no clothes on. I am 38 neighbour is 50 next year and 3rd friend has just turned 40. Am I sad? How can I get out of this? Any ideas as I do want to see them both just not in a noisy pub plus it is a total waste of money ofcourse.

  • TallGirl is there a comprise? Could you go out for a meal to a 'lively' bar? That way your friends get to go out but you still get to have nice conversation in nice surroundings rather than having to go clubbing?
