I'm very interested in your MB journey TallGirl, but out of curiosity (and partly because I fancy giving it a go myself), how much of your time does it take up to get the kind of earnings you've managed?
Matchbetting can take as long as you like it to do depending on how much money you want to make. The basic principle is to take up the sign up offers from the bookies in form of free bets. You have to bet a certain amount of your own money to get the free one but it is risk free so you wont loose your own money unless you make a mistake. Now there are 100's of bookies here, in Europe the States you name it so if you want to earn a lot of money quickly you obviously sign up for several at a time and have to take the time to do the required bets. That means you have to have a big float which I choose not to so I just do 1 offer at the time. Sometimes the bookies send you reload offers which has a time limt to them so you want to be able to do them as well as any new ones you do. Let me give you a few tips before you start.- Open a fresh bank account to MB with I use Nationwide as they don't charge for foreign transactions. You may also need a Neteller account which is free. You will need a float of min £300 to start with maybe a bit more.
- Make sure you have a Quidco account and other cashback sites
- Don't sign up to any bingo offers that also has a sports book as you will not be able to get the free bets on those accounts. E.g Coral & Gala Bingo are linked.
- Read the guide on the Gambling board and read the first post where newbies ask questions. DO NOT post any questions as a new thread they all go in the Newbie thread (step three)
1 2)
STEP TWO - Extra Information and Links (Gambling Intro Offers Board Index)
STEP THREE - Ask All Your Matched Betting Questions HERE!!! go on go on
I think I made about £3000 last year from end Jan to Dec. I have now started counting again to keep better records. I spend a couple of hours on a Saturday before the footie kicks off and then I do odd bits here and there. I work from home on a PC to tend to spend more time than I need to on MB if I am bored with work.
It takes a while to get your head around things and I would never had started if it hadn't been for Tim L who mentored me. I have helped a few start and they are flying now but the first step is scary. Feel free to PM me but the Gambling Introductory Offer Loopholes Board is the place to start.Save £12k in 25 No 49

Just thought I would let you know how my mortgage is doing as this is after all the MFW board.
I pay £1000 a month which is an O/P of about £500. On top of that I pay the monthly interest so I always have a nice rounded figure on my statement.
In November we were charged £61.99 so that is a average interest of £2.07 a day. Barclays/Woolwich has finally lowered our interst rate so we now pay 3.75 so the amount charged for December was £39.61 average £1.28 nice one:j
Balance outstanding is £14,000 plus a bathroom offset loan of £3500 (paid £1000 off that in Dec which I am pleased with). Our current accounts and savings accounts are offset agains this so it calculates how much we save on offsetting and this month it was £6.44 which is actually pants. However it does mean we don't pay interest on the bathroom loan as the savings cover it. We used to have a lot more offset but the expensive bathrooms ate into that. That is why we have no savings as they are my mums as she wanted some money in the UK to pay for things when she is here. She has about £3000.
Still getting a few more updates for the MFi3 challenge but we are going to loose some people who have not updated for ages. Shame about that & sadly I think we shall loose more now that MFi3 Part II has been started. I just hope we will complete it even if it is only for a handful of us as we have been going for so long.
Warning this is not Mortgage related
Slight side track update on my weigh loss challenge with myself. I am now 83.4 so have lost a full 1200 grams. Nice start. Still doing well on the alcohol count which I will count Friday to Thursday so this week I had 2 small glasses of wine, 1 small beer and 1 glass of Cava :j Lets see how I do this week.
Got £20 in John Lewis voucher from Pigsback will need to buy a new lounge light as you can hardly read in there. Also the old one won't take energysaving ones.Save £12k in 25 No 49

Thanks for that, I'm think I'm going to give it a go; try and have a money-neutral kitchen replacement this summer then I can concentrate on the mortgage0

Hi TG
Thanks for the the updates, you are doing well on all fronts. Well done on the alcohol as I know you've mentioned this from time to time and were even tracking it for a while, just keep thinking of those trousers you mentioned:rotfl:
I was really postive last year about Op'ing but feel even more so this year, I think this is probably down to the 'new year' feeling as well as base rate changes as I'm one of the lucky ones that is really beneftting from it and with effect from eb my rate will be 1.5% which means my normal payments have dropped by 53% since I started my mortgage so all the more for the OP pot:j
I had to laugh when you said about coming on MSE/MFW when you were bored and working at home - I do that from time to time though I've been away all week and not been able to do so until now.MFW Start Date 1.4.08. Updated 23.1.18. MFW date 1.8.18

Hi TG,
I think you would be able to clear your mortgage through MBing if you put your mind to it!
My offset interest saved is also pants but have put that down to low interest rates so saving less overall.
(Well done on the non-mortgage related items - I am very jealous; seriously cringed this morning when the bin men came to collect the glass box - the noise from them smashing was unbelievable!)

Thanks aboutmetoo I do feel I am doing quite well with the wine challenge I don't actually miss it that much. Had two 1/2 glasses of wine last night and did not want any more. My glasses are 200ml so I think I shall count that as 1 large glass. Floxxie you should see our garage full of bottles and it takes ages once you get to the bottle bank to get rid of the lot. I have now put it all in DH's car hoping he will do it.
Been a bit of an expensive day went to Macro to stock up on bulk essential items such as cat food, toilet roll, J2O's, cleaning stuff etc etc. Came to £119 but there were some beers and some wine in there. Then we went and got DH a new pair of winter shoes. His old ones fell apart in Denmark so we left them there and his deck shoes are just too cold. That was £50 but he had had the old ones for years and years.
Then I cleaned the oven my pet hate job no 1. After having done it 3 times and it still isn't 100% clean I have given up it is a lot better and won't smell now. Went to Homebase to buy a new bulb and had £6 in vouchers as well as a £3 off if you spend £30. Needed a new lamp for the lounge so you can actually see what you are doing. Found one £39 but really nice, got it home and 1 of the 3 bulbs are bust. They are halogen ones and quite expensive so now debating if I can be asked to go back to the shop and get one that works. Obviously they can give me one there is just so much trafic on that road it is a total pain.
Still plugging away on the gamebookers nearly done the WR if I bust out. Also got £20 from BetClick which I have done today.Save £12k in 25 No 49

Just a quick update before the inlaws come down and we are going out for dinner. Went back to Homebase, asked if I could have a new bulb no problem at all. Only had two packs so got 2 instead of 1 free, £5 saved I am sure Martin would have been proud of me.Save £12k in 25 No 49

Hi TG and a belated Happy New Year to you and yours
The Party/Game offer is a bit of a nightmare isn't it! The odds are so hard to find decent matches.
You are doing very well on cutting down alcohol front too, which is probably helping your weight reduction, so definately a win/win situation for you.
Glad you got the bulbs sorted too - definately an MSE shopping experience there! It takes a while to get your head around things and I would never had started if it hadn't been for Tim L who mentored me. I have helped a few start and they are flying now but the first step is scary. Feel free to PM me but the Gambling Introductory Offer Loopholes Board is the place to start.
Cazzdevil - I was lucky enough to be helped by TG when I first started on my MB journey and I would be happy to help you out as well if you need any help. I would like to help someone out as TG helped me. I think I have seen your name on the GIOL board. I'm more of a lurker than a poster there. I probably spend more time than I should at it but I really enjoy it, so why not. The only drawback is it is not encouraging me to be more active
Enjoy the rest of your weekend TG and happy matchingSave £12k in 2022 #54 reporting for duty0 -
Hi Dingling68 nice to hear from you and happy new year to you too. I only got the free £100 for my two GB accounts (1 is DH) I haven't found them that bad but I am proably not making the most of the offer. Bust out of 1 and just put a bet on under odds of 2 in the hope I bust out of the 2nd one. Had £100 on 13/1 so quite happy that is not going to win or my Betfair acc would have been depleated.
Its nice of you to offer to mentor people too. I think it is important that newbies start with low offers and easy ones. Not GB or PB although they are great later on. Not sure what Coral's offer is like but I am sure a bit of research will dig that out.
Been up to Captains Drive in at the club just to say hello not actually play too frosty in my opinion. Nice to see people and might go back when they come in at 1pm. Signed up for out club night tomorrow night. Free curry, 1/2 price drinks and a rules quiz not bad and nice to go out for a change and not have to spend loads of money.
Might have a go at tidying up the garden it is looking quite sad. Good exercise too.
PS only had 2 glasses of wine at FIL birthday yesterday felt really good.Save £12k in 25 No 49
