Had a fab time in Devon there were 16 of us all 30+ older than me but all golfers from my club. It was nice to be back at the hotel and the golf courses I think that was my 11th time. I am going down to Plymouth tomorrow so should really have stayed down there but felt I need to come back home for 1 night. I am ways 3 nights next week, really sad but hey that is my job.

On Wednesday it will be our 4th wedding anniversary, I am in Redruth and DH is home, not much of a celebration. At least we had this weekend together.

Did not spend too much money this weekend, £10 a bottle for wine and all the meals, golf etc were incl so quite cheap as we would have spend money at home anyway.

Did have a mug bet on Pompey, well I am a huge fan. It was so stressful to watch the game but so nice that they won. Just spoken to my Neighbour they went down to see the bus drive through Portsmouth with the players. No trouble or hassle at all just huge celebrations.

Just a quick hello from me before I head off to Plymouth. Lots and lots to do before then need to get some cash urgently and some milk in case fitter does turn up today. I doubt it as I said he had to get here before 11am and he is not here yet so guess it will be sometime later this week whenever. I am kind of OK with it just a bit annoyed that he can't say a date he wants to start and stick to it. Ah well it gives us more time to save up.

Mortgage is now down to £21k and MB profits are up to £1717 which I am happy with. I know some people say it takes too long to find the odds but I disagree. The longer you do it the easier it gets to find the odds. I am lucky I work from home and can check every now and then. It is actually quite fun too so don't find it a chore at all. Well need to get packing and find all the stuff I need to take with me so see you all later.

Wow, your doing really well with the matched betting I should really give it a try as I need to up my income inorder to d-start reducing the mortgage, but I'm not sure I understand the whole matched betting thing.

Hi SuiDreams it took me ages to understand MB but I was very lucky I had a bit of a guru to help me in the beginning and I was able to ask some basic questions on the MB thread on MSE. It is actually quite good fun once you get going and you can take it as slowly as you want and there is definitely easy money to be made. If you want me to help you get going I shall be happy to but you need to read the guide etc before you start.

I am still in the West Country just waiting to meet a client and have found a pub with WIFI. My 3G card still has the child block on it so cant look on here which is a real pain. Trip has been good but I look forward to getting back home now. It was my 4th wedding anniversary last night so a bit crap to be stuck in a hotel.

Finally back home and how nice it is to be back home. Having to be away from Tuesday to Friday is a long time and makes me yet again wonder if it is worth it especially as I am away from Tuesday to Wednesday next week but at least we have the bankholiday in between.

To no surprise our bathroom fitter has not started yet, he has spoken to DH and said he would come Monday. Obviously both DH and him have not realised it is a bankholiday so who knows when he will turn up.

We are going out tonight for a meal as we were not together for our 4th weddning anniversary. I am not hungry and I am sure DH isn't either so I migth suggest a take away instead.

We ended up going to an Italian Restaurant for a meal, really nice food and bill came to £30 so quite good really. I got my Money Diet Book and the Most Important Lessons also by Martin from Amazon. Did not cost me anything as I used my Lightspeed Voucher and a £2.50 freebie one from HotDeals. DH had been reading it before we went out and in the restaurant he said to me. I have just seen something Martin Lewis would have hated. A couple ordered 2 small beers but they were selling 600ml beers which would have been cheaper. I think he is turning into a real MSE.

We had some Champagne when we got back home, he had saved £10 on that but it did cost £18 which I thought was too much. Did not taste that much nicer than the £5 Cava we normally have.

We had a really good chat about chidlren too, it turns out he has been thinking about it too. During our heart to heart we both agree we cannot rule out having children but of course you never know if you will be able to have them. Neither of us feel we can cope with a severely disabled child so we have agreed we would have all the tests done and then decide. So there you have it, pills are out the window and we are going to try and see what happens. Such a strange feeling but I think we are both equally happy about it.

We have talked about the financial side of things but as we only owe £21K on the mortgage that does make a big difference. My job situation with a baby in tow might be tricky but for now we are just going for it.

So what do you think? Are we mad? Are we too old at nearly 38 and 45?

You are so busy! I don't think you're mad at all to be trying at 38 and 45 - I'm getting married in July and my husband-to-be already has four fantastic children, so we don't plan to try for more (I'm 35 and he's 41), but we have loads of energy for the kids. The only major financial thing is funding for Uni if you're at retirement age, but being mortgage-free should mean you can make it a priority.

Best of luck - if it's meant to be, it will be. xxx

Thanks TTBG I must admit I had not thought as far as retirement and University but you are right needs to be considered. My parents saved up for me so managed Uni without getting into debt. I suspose Child Benefit and the Child Trust Funds will be ideal savings for that sort of thing.

Still feeling a bit strange about the whole thing, we have not talked anymore about it and a friend of mine is coming for dinner tonight. I am playing golf tomorrow with two really good players so will do my best not to drink to much. Having a really healthy dinner, Ostrich steak (low fat) salad from the garden and fresh pineapple and mint for pud.

On the MB front signed up for Wauw and nearly managed to bust out expect this Danish team scored twice in the 90th min so my over 2.5 goals won. Trying to find a new match for the rest of money but a bit difficult. I did get an 90p arb on that original bet so not too bad.

Evening, DH is watching Indy 500 the most boring race in the world as sooooooo loooooong. They are on lap 110 out of 200.

Played rubbish golf today but was not hung over so that was a big plus. Had a nice night with my friend without being silly actually got to bed at 11.30pm.

Bathroom fitter is starting tomorrow, I can't belive it. We started looking at having them done between Christmas and New Year such a long time ago now. Still happy it is going ahead.

Will do a little bit of work tomorrow as I am staying here to look after Mike the fitter. DH is playing golf so will be nice to have some time to myself.

I am hoping to bust out of Wauwbet tonight. My Norwegean Football game is currently going my way so hopefully it will stay that way. Hope to help a fellow MFW into the world of MB tomorrow will have to check out what the current offers are.

I think that is enough for now. Take care hope you are all enjoying your bankholiday.

Bathroom is now gutted as he worked on it all day yesterday. Room looks so much bigger now and I am sure once the new suite is in it will look so much bettter than the old one. The reason he got so held up last week was because his last clients kept changing their mind on how to have their tiles fitted. He had to lay them several times before they we happy and at £16 a tile that must have been very expensive. When he saw our live tiles is took a double take as that was the ones he had just done. I don't think I am going to faff around that much as ours cost £16 per sheet.

No golf as it was too wet so did some MB instead. Managed to bust out of Bet24 for a nice £30 profit. Underlayed slightly but because I got such good odds I actually managed to get the whole £30 back plus 9p thanks to Macedonia getting a draw. Also signed up for Bet-at-home which gives you a €200 free bet which is £159 so very nice thanks you. I need to find a good match and there is not a lot on so will leave it for a bit longer. Profits are about £1900 but need to get BAH done first.

Found the lights we want but emailed to ask seller a few questions. Also found the fans we want and they are just about £30 each but £7 delivery charge which is a lot. They are actually made quite locally to us so have emailed another seller to see if they do them. Problem is they all seem to give them their own ref no which makes it hard to compare. Once we get these things that should be it for shopping for the bathrooms.

Going up to HQ today staying until tomorrow but will be nice as we are going out with the new member of the team. Need to do some stuff before I leave in 1 hour so better get on with it.

Hope you all had a nice Bankholiday.
