Back from golf did not play too badly but not great either but it was nice to play in shorts and tshirts for a change. OH had done the food shopping and measured the tiles so off we went to buy them.

    Cloak room tiles
    Black Glass tiles (splashback) £47
    Floor Black Slate £33
    Total £80 had budgetted £75

    Ensuite/wetroom
    Black floor tiles + 1 wall £183
    White tiles £200
    Total £383 had budgetted £500

    Main bathroom
    Black slate floortiles £92
    White wall tlies £311
Live tiles £269 ( a bit mad as it is less than 2 sqm but lovely)
    Total £672 budget £500

So only £1135 thats £60 more than budgetted which I think is pretty good.

    Total spend so far is:
    £5175

Not all the tiles were in stock so will have to go and fecth in 7 to 10 days time. Can't wait to get this off the ground now will take before and after pictures.

Just done the lawn so need a rest really hot out there.

Inlaws are coming down soon to watch Pompey as they don't have Setanta, we are so rubbish at the moment I doubt I will watch the whole game mind you James is back in goal so should be ok. Need sort out a load of nibbles before they get here.

Such a nice feeling so have sorted the tiles out no more looking and thinking about what we like. Had to go to Homebase to get some weedkiller but could not resist looking in the bathroom section. Luckily we did not like anything.

Got lots of MB on still this weekend. Should boost the balance so will post and update later on when it is all settled.

Take care and enjoy the weather.

Just read that new thread how old is everyone, really good stuff seems there are a lot of us in our late 30's but also a lot much younger. I supose I started overpaying when I was 29 when I got my offset but it wasn't unitl this site and MFi3 that I even realised I could make exptra payments online.

Had the inlaws around last night, they are arguing more and more and iti s a pain. They really should have got divorced years ago they are now 82 and 78 so it is too late but I really don't want to end up like that. FIL is laying a new patio and she is nagging him about it. They have a gardener one hour a week but this week he is doing the hanging baskets so that will take up 1/2 hour. Get real guys pay someone to lay the patio and don't have hanging baskets if you have to pay someone to do them. Let the gardener do the heavy stuff. They are not short of money so it is annoying.

MB wise did quite well at the weekend. Turned the VC free bets into cash and got the last £50 out of Boyles so balance is not 20p short of £1600. Had to borrow some money from my current account to fund Betfair as I was working on such high odds. Paid it back now but it did mean I got so good returns on my SNR between 97 and 98 even had a 50p arb. Unibet was running a correct score promo. You had to bet £2 and if you won you would get an extra £10. I did lay it but it still made about £6 profit. Every little helps. Now the football is nearly over it will be a bit slower but I will continue. Won't be able to bet on the Cup Final as I am away for the weekend. Pompey were so rubbish yesterday I really don't hold out much hope for them at Wembley.

DH and I had a chat about funding the bathrooms. He has agreed to use some of the money he has in his current account (he calls them his savings) but wants the rest borrowed on the offset account. That is fine he had about £7k and I have £3k which we don't count as part of the MFi3 eventhough we benefit from them as we pay less interest. The £4k for the main bulk of the stuff is on interest free credit and DH will pay that off monthly over 1 year. We have paid the £1100 for the tiles so it is the last £10k to find but that should be doable with about borrowing more.

Never mind today is a new week and I am meeting the new boss in London tomorrow so need to work out my strategies and look at my area.

Not really sure what I am doing but will come up with something I am sure.

Just come back from town and a bit of moning saving news from the TallGirl household.

We have a savings account we use for holiday spending and it was totally empty after Portugal in early March. However due to Quidco, Mystery Shopping, Amamzon and MoneyBackMadness and DH change challenge it is up to £254. That is quite good I think money we have not missed and free really. DH puts all his change into a box and I then bank it every so often. I don't contribute a lot to it as I need my change for parking.

Needed new batteries in both our watches, £5 each bargin on not having to buy new ones. I am tempted though.

Had to spend £1 on parking, £4 on a battery for a Georg Jensen Clock (clock worth £90 so worth it).

Also got some Jersey Royals and some peaches, they were only £3 so a bargan. Total spend £18 but most of it needed,

Need to do some work now.

Been to London and back for a meeting and lunch with a colleague. She does the same job as me but in London so don't have to travel as much and stay overnight like I do. Her and her partner has been trying for a baby and recently had a miscarrige. She told me today that she is 16 weeks pregnant. I knew she was trying but it has made me feel all weird. I really like her but I don't think she is very good at her job. She has just passed her probation and will be allowed to come back after maternity obviously. I feel so strange jealous on one hand that she get 8k more than me for working in London and not having a company car (they pay for tube etc) but mostly I think because she can have a baby and keep her job. I could not have a child and do the amount of overnight I have to do.

I am not even sure I want children but at 37 nearly 38 you need to make your mind up. When I took this job 2 years ago I kind of knew I could not do it and have children which is why I think I feel so weird about her. She is nearly 41 so in a way it shows I still have some time left but you never know.

I think I need to revisit this issue of children again as clearly this has affected me a bit. I even spoke to DH about children the other night and I don't think he is keen. Well maybe I should just leave for now and feel happy for my colleague which I really am.

Was suspose to meet with the boss too but she had a puncture and could not make it. Waiting for her to call me soon but she hasn't so far.

Booked two hotels for next week for work via Quidco and Laterooms. For some reason it defaulted back to todays date so I had to quickly cancel and rebook for the correct date. Now have £6 cashback in Quidco for that, nice totally free earner for me.

Also got my Playboy Casino payout today £35 totally free and risk free.

Resisting temptation to sign up for a new bookie as we are going away Friday over the weekend. DH asked if I could use one of my free bets for Pompey to win the FA Cup. Should really have a punt maybe a couple of quids worth.

Got a mystery shopping job today in town, sadly have to wait in for replacement bath but hopefully they will get here before 2.30pm so I can get it done before 3pm.

Working from home still not heard from the boss I will call her in a bit I hate all this waiting around.

Just come back from a meeting where I am the chair, it all went well but I am so tired. Found out that a guy I know has got a job at my biggest competitor covering my area too. He lives 4 miles from me so will be right on my heels at all the same events. He is a real ladies man and some like him and some hate him so it will be strange. He is nearly 65 and I cannot belive he has been headhunted to that type of sales role. Has to world gone mad...

Picked up the rest of the tiles today, my car is really low at the rear now quite strange to drive it home. No news from fitter will have to call him.

Never mind off to sunny Devon tomorrow to play golf. Two days off work bliss.

Well not so sunny this morning and they have promised torrential rain in Devon and Cornwall. Been awake for an hour now DH always wakes up so early when we are about to go on holiday or its the weekend. During the week you can't get him out of bed.

Spoke to the bathroom fitter last night, he is still not finished with his other job so can't start yet. He may come on Tuesday or Wednesday but to be honest I don't realy mind now. It is a pain that he keeps changing the dates but I would rather he finished what he needs to do so he can concentrate on this job.

Got all the tiles in from the car to the garage, really really heavy. The garage is totally full so and decided to put them in front of the lawnmover as we don't need it right now. FIL then calls and asks to borrow the lawnmover so now DH has to get it out. Pain in the b....

Right I should go and pack, DH is in the bath and it would be nice to get going soon as it will take us 3 1/2 hours to get there.

Won't have any internet access until we are back so hope you all have a lovely weekend.

    Good morning TG

I just wanted to say well done on your commitment and focus to your MF quest. I have also dipped my toe into matched betting but I find that searching for the close odds it too time consuming for me at the moment but I have still managed to make about £150:D

It must be lovely to know that your MF date is in sight and I would love to be MF before I am 40 but I will be 36 in July so it would be a bit of a mammoth task to clear all 57K by then. I will give it my best shot though but I think 2014 (six years) is more achievable.

I will pop in every now and then to say hello and see how you are getting on, I have a thread here too if you ever wanted to stick your hear round the door:cool:

Enjoy your time off work x
But these things take time, I know that I'm, the most inept that ever stepped.

    Hi Louise
Thank you for your post, really nice to hear from you and good luck with your £56K I am sure you can get it done in 6 years. We started with £45.5K 1 year ago and is now down to £21k.

I will have a look at your diary too, I do read some of the others just don't post that often.
