If the car was "special" in any way then a potential new purchaser looks at the history for a guide as to how the car has been looked after and a clear run of passes at MOT time tends to show it's been "looked after".
Only my opinion.
Hardly showing a not looked after car🤷♀️
Doubt it.
In reality anyone could get a clean MOT each year, yet totally abuse the car the rest of the year. They just have to make sure that the parts that are covered. Are in the condition required to pass.Life in the slow lane0 -
My current car is 10 years old & my last one finally 13 years old, both of which I owned from new & neither ever failed an MOT. I have paid the garage to service them & to make sure they don't. The car before them, agaiin owned from new until 13 years old I used to take for MOT myself before my current garage. Ripped off doesn't come close. Martin is spot on with not taking your vehicle for an MOT at a garage that also does repairs.2

Honestly, that’s 100% on the garage. Refit + retest should be the bare minimum, anything less is unacceptable.1
