MOT fail due to garage error

My car is currently at my local dealership for a full service and MOT. They identified that it required 2 new tyres. I authorised this work to be done. However, it’s failed the MOT as one of new tyres has been fitted incorrectly. This is the first and only fail on an otherwise perfect track record. Needless to say, I’m pretty annoyed. The garage has asked what they can do to put things right. Aside from the obvious, refitting the tyre and putting the car back through its MOT, what would be reasonable? Free tyres? Free labour? Thanks for any thoughts or advice.

*** Update *** Garage offered free service next year, tyres at cost price and will deduct the cost of the MOT. Essentially around 10% or so off the total bill. Seems fair. Thanks for all of the insightful replies.

As you authorised the work without taking the vehicle from the dealer just get them to put the tyre on correctly and provide an MOT.

You might get a bunch of flowers or a box of chocolates but as you aren't out of pocket then don't set your expectations too high.

    What have you asked for?

It needed new tyres and an MOT anyway, it's just unfortunate that they fitted one incorrectly and the MOT retest should be free.

So why do you think they owe you something other than fit the tyre correctly and retest it.

Aside from the obvious, refitting the tyre and putting the car back through its MOT, what would be reasonable compensation?
Aside from refitting the tyre and re-testing, both at no cost?
    Nothing.
You've suffered no loss, the car will be returned to you in the condition you expected.

The garage admits making an unacceptable error, falling far short of expected standards.
It’s a main Mini dealership who really ought to know how to fit tyres to one of their own cars.
    They themselves are proposing compensation.
Chocolates and flowers aren’t really my thing, but thanks for the suggestion.

They won't fit tyres themselves.  Bob from the local tyre fitters will pop round to do it.

Compensation (as opposed to "a goodwill payment") implies a loss that needs to be made good.

I didn’t ask for anything actually. They asked me what I would like, but I’m not that kind of engineer so I had no clue where to go on it.
