We've done several Sun breaks and apart from the first which was Dolphin Bay they have all been excellent. We use them as a base for touring an area. We don't use the entertainment passes...there's just the two of us Seniors...we take our own bedding and we take a convector heater for chilly nights. All the camps we've used have been very quiet, the staff have been very friendly and the service has been excellent.
I can recommend Southerness for Dumfries and Galloway, Cayton Bay for Whitby etc, Lakeland for the South Lakes.

Been to both (I think) but about ten years ago.

The Ilfracombe one is basically three parks all next to each other. You could be allocated accomodation in any of these. Two are very quiet (Accomodation only parks) and one is more lively (Accomodation+main facilities). You can use the facilities of the main park wherever you are staying and it takes a 5 minutes walk to get to the facilities wherever you are located . All accomodation is in chalets and a large converted house. Bar is huge, entertainment is, well, acceptable. Parks are at the top of a steep hill above the town so a car is a must!

The Combe Martin park is centred around an old victorian house. Most of the accomodation is in static caravans although there are some chalets, an old cottage and also accomodation in the main manor house.

All parks had very friendly and helpful staff when I visited. Accomodation wasn't perfect but acceptable when I went.

All are part of John Fowler holidays: http://www.johnfowlerholidays.com/

See: Ilfracombe, Devon Coast, Golden coast and Combe Martin parks.

Compare the prices on the website with those of the Sun offer before booking as they have sometimes been cheaper in previous years..

    Hi,
Thinking of going on a Haven Park holiday with The Sun holidays.
Parks I am thinking of are, Presthaven Sands, Marton Mere or Hafan y Mor. Also might try the HB at Hafan y Mor.
Anyone been to these parks, and could give me some advice. Might even book direct and go early in year, and save tokens till late.

we went to the hafan y mor camp 2 years ago, it is the old butlins camp, as somebody else stated very clean, entertainment was very good, and some of the views you get around there are to die for, snowdonia is not to far away, unfortunately when we was there, it was the end of the season so it rained nearly the whole week, defo gonna go back at a better time of the year, HTH Dave.
Take every day as it comes!!

you could take your own sheets, duvet covers and pillowcases.

Unfortunately not an option if you have to cart them on the trains :(

I've been on at least one a year since they started and haven't always had a priority booking form. My Aunt who went on 1 about 3 years ago has had a form every year since! I have got one this time for the first time in 2 years. When I rang the Sun last year they said its pot luck/random who they get sent out to

I am gutted because I have moved house this past year and so If I did get a priority form it has gone to my old address.

I might also look into booking online with Haven instead this year. Thanks for the advice People :T

make everyone carry their own sleeping bag. we go camping with no car each year and kids carry own rucksack each and sleeping bag. If you want to save you will do anything. I know im a skinflint!
:j I sometimes give myself admirable advice, but am incapable of taking it.
  • so if i am collecting tokens when is earliest i can book with no priority booking form?
