Hi all, I am determined to book a Sun holiday this year.
Which parks would you say were most suitable for young families as i have twin hyper 3 year old boys who will want to run wild! :o
The last time i stayed in a caravan i was 9, which was decades ago so its been a long time but am looking forward to it.

Butlins is ( obviously) fab for kids,if thats your kind of thing ? :)

narrow it down to what area you are thinking of

have a look at all the park descriptions : http://www.ukholidaysinthesun.co.uk/cgi-bin/UKHS_park_0003.cgi

and then ask / look for reviews on www.tripadvisor.com or on here :)

This might be a stupid question but we are hoping to book for June and July and want to book ASAP. However, I am due to have a baby in three weeks. Obviously the baby will come with us but I can't put booking details down before he arrives! Do I just out the four of us for now and can I add him later??

I was in the same position when we booked last year and we just put our surname down for the baby (boy as it turned out) and '0' in the age column!(if I remember right) Didn't seem to cause any probs :)
Hope the bubba and the hol are both great experiences!! hehe...of course they will be ;D

Just wanted to add - some places give you a guaranteed downstairs apt if you have a child under 2 (eg Pontins, at Butlins you have to pay £10) so definitely worth including the baby now to ensure availability

  • hotmama my boy turned 2 last year and he's very active. he's like a dog - he needs regular exercise 3 times a day and just does not do 'staying in'. butlins was great because they had an undercover bob the builder yard (at minehead) which was open for a few hours a day where all rides were free. he really loved it. your 3 year olds probably will too unless they are real thrill seekers, but there will be some outside 'big' fairground rides they can go on too. my boy is a regular at alton towers and is an adrenaline junkie but he found the little rides in bob's yard really exciting bless him.

butlins and havens have a soft play area too. butlins had plenty of undercover things to do which was great because it never stopped raining while we were there! at 2 my boy preferred butlins entertainment to haven.

butlins had big names (pingu, bob the builder etc.) while haven have their own characters (rory the tiger etc.).

haven put their parks into categories, the all action parks will have lots to do - they have clubs during the day where kids can go for an hour's colouring in, watching the character shows etc. (with you supervising) and tennis courts, bikes for hire etc.

if you like swimming it might be worth asking on here what the pool is like at each park. some have play stuff, slides etc. while others are just a pool with poor changing facilities and a couple of cold showers.

    where do you live?

it's also worth going to the haven etc. websites and looking at their info for each park. local attractions such as castles, theme parks, farms etc. because there might be stuff you can use tesco deals tokens for.

Hi, we stayed a Hafan y Mor in October 2006, we went HB and the food was awful. The stay was good, a bit boring but it was end of season. It rained most of the week and there was nothing on for the kids in the day but we did get out most days along the coast. Regarding the food it was just not really edible, the staff were mostly Polish so if you had any problems they couldn't understand you. But we didn't let it spoil the holiday for us, we would prob go back but in main season and self catering.
I have stayed at Hafan y Mor quite a few times and would definitely go back again. The food is basic but certainly not inedible and there is plenty of choice. If you don't like what is on display they have a selection of various salads and jacket potatoes upon request. We found the restaurant staff to be friendly and helpful.

Obviously good weather makes a holiday because the surrounding area is beautiful, but if not there's always the pool.

I would confirm the previous advice about booking direct rather than using the Sun offer. We have never never paid more than £9-10 per person per night (based upon only two sharing). When you consider that price includes accommodation, food, entertainment passes and linen then you can't complain.:D

Has anyone been to Haven Littlesea Park at Weymouth or Haven Hopton Park nr Great Yarmouth??

They are my top 2 at the moment - after reading reviews online.
