Agreed, last year's happenings have no real relevance to this year as T&C's could easily change, and I do wish the admins or whoever made the change, would contact the Post Originator prior to taking action!
Someone just saw "Nationwide Fairer Share" in both threads and merged them without reading them or even thinking. Annoying as I wanted to avoid confusion by opening the new thread, especially if the requirements change from last year's.
Based on previous years, we won't know this year's qualification criteria/requirements until after it is too late to qualify

For some reason this thread has been merged with last year's! 🙄 I have requested they be split but I shan't hold my breath.
The OP in this thread was looking to get the fairer share for 2026 and was asking based on the 25 one, seems same topic to me.

Nationwide's fairer share payment for 2025 has already been paid out. Are you talking about the 2026 payment instead?
Sorry, yes 2026, my brain is a bit frazzled! Thanks.

No as one is the 2025 scheme and one is the 2026 scheme. We don't know if there will be one this year or what they requirements will be is there is one. What if the requirements change and people have queries after they are announced for 2026, and then come on here and see last year's and this year's requirements all bunched in together?
If one is confirmed for 2026 then there will be a new thread (as happened for 2025) based on the actual criteria, which may or may not be different.
This thread is about it what it might be.

I don't see the point of starting a new thread when the requirements are announced as then it's too late to ensure you've met them. Anyway, the decision has been made to merge them so that's that I guess.
The reason why a new thread was created (by a Mod I believe)  is so readers could see if they qualified or not without having to wade though different predictions, that would be pointless.  Normally there will be a link to the article written by  MSE

Some will be proactive and this thread will help

In case they do it this year can you remind me is it January February and March you have to make the payments in and out if they keep the terms the same
T&Cs of the 2025 offer are (for the time being) here: https://www.nationwide.co.uk/about-us/fairer-share/terms-and-conditions/

Assuming no changes, it's 2 out of 3 of Jan/Feb/Mar. For good measure in case they change their criteria, I've also switched a dummy Chase account to Nationwide, completing tomorrow, as this was also another way to qualify last year (and I know a few people who left it too late last year were saved by this option).
Did you try for the switching bonus as well?

Threadwise I'm not fussed either way. But as the Terms and Conditions for the 2026 giveaway aren't likely to be known until the payment (if any) is announced then by definition any discussions now are essentially just speculation based on last year's scheme.  So there's some logic to continuing the speculation in last year's thread.

Personally, I'm making sure I have some DD's and debit card payments during the possible qualifying period, just in case the criteria are tightened up a bit this time.

Reminder that the requirement last year was also to have £100 in savings or mortgage balance - you do not qualify just from the current account

    https://www.nationwide.co.uk/-/assets/nationwidecouk/documents/about/fairer-share/25050-fairer-share-terms-and-conditions-2025.pdf

I qualified last year paying in the money monthly - I bounce £1300 into RBS (for the reward qualifier and £150 digital saver) then £1150 into Nationwide (£150 into their regular saver) and £1000 out again. I do 3 card payments during the month, carrots are by far the cheapest way to qualify if you don't do transfers for savers, you can get small ones that self scan to 1p

Thanks for this reminder. I didn’t bother renewing my Regular Saver after it matured in November but have now done so. Hope I haven’t blown my chances.
The previous years have looked at the state of play in March I believe

    3. What are qualifying savings?
You will have had qualifying savings if you had at least £100 in total in one or more personal savings accounts or cash ISAs with Nationwide at the end of any day in March 2025.

They also looked at Jan-Mar and you had to pay in £500 and make 2 payments in 2 / 3 months (for the free accounts) assuming you didn't switch to them in those 3 months

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

I didn't as I'm not eligible for the switch offer. I've tried in the past to see if I can slip between the cracks when I know I'm not eligible, without success, so I didn't bother trying.

I do have £10K in a Nationwide 18 month bond until December & some money in a Flex Account but other than that I intend to do absolutely nothing to try to qualify. Prior year payouts were £100 and I reckon I can spend my time & effort achieving a similar return on other stuff. Good luck to those who want to try though.
