Hello all. Hope you feel better soon YL.
40 hour week at paid stuff now completed thank goodness so house needs some attention. We're at a big family gathering down south tomorrow (I shall wave to you all on the journey) so I'll try to fly on Sunday before resuming paid stuff again. Pretty normal hours next week interspersing with swimming, grandchildren and a day to skipton with some friends.
Oh, and it's DDsbirthday so I need to retrieve her cake from the freezer and decorate it at some point before Tuesday.Spend less now, work less later.5 -
Evening all.
GWS wishes to you, YL. The other attendees will be most grateful to you for having not gone to the works conference and spread your germs among them, whatever your boss may think.
DH and I have spent most of the day at the horse piddle. Before lunch he had to have a Doppler scan on his ulcerated leg - fortunately there are no major issues there, and the ulcer is beginning to heal at last - and after lunch he did his bit for medical science by manfully giving blood and tissue samples for the vascular consultant's research project into the various types of fats produced by the body which may or may not affect the healing process. Most interesting. To our amazement DH was given £20 for travel expenses - the consultant said he had to account for how he spent the grant he'd received for the project and didn't want the sponsors to think he'd spent all the money on his own vices! He told us to spend it on something nice, so I expect we shall enjoy another lunch out soon
My bits of the house are tidy, the kitchen is clean, I've worked out what ingredients I need to buy for the Christmas Fayre cakes, my financial spreadsheet is up to date and in the black, and I have FUPA the clean washing that was airing in the bathroom. I've also done a bit more cross stitch and have almost finished another small but complicated picture (Celtic bird design). It all makes for a good start to the weekend.
Have a good one, friends xxx5 -
Ooh Jazee I was in Skipton last week with my Mum, we went on a canal boat trip, highly recommended.
So, we have a TV on the breakfast bar in the kitchen, it's next to the wall which makes a convenient place to stash things behind it. I pulled everything out, gave it all a good clean and rehomed various recipes, old shopping lists and even an old expired bank card. I also wiped down the kitchen units and cleaned behind the bin and microwave.
Still snuffly, and fed up with it. DH is at work tomorrow, I have to go out or I will go stir crazy.
Managed to get the towels and dog bedding almost dry between the showers, have finished it off in the tumbler.7 -
Morning all xx
Hope you're now feeling better YL. And any other poorlies out there. Xx
I have a hairdresser's appointment at 8.30 this morning. Whose idea was that? Well, not mine actually. Weeks ago I made the appointment for 5pm last night - and hairdresser messaged me to change it to this morning. No problem sez I 🤦♀️. My Saturday morning routine is now completely kyboshed. Heyho. It's character building - although I already have lots of character...too much for some folk hehe.
Any hoo. I'm up, made my bed, dressed, taken my meds and supped a brew. I completed Strands with one hint, completed Wordle in three, and completed Connections with two lives lost.
I'm going to have to make the day up as I go along once I'm back. My list is written. I'm sure I'll find some sort of rhythm...just not my usual Saturdailies one.
Have a good day

Afternoon all. Miraculously I dried some washing outside today. Much checking of the weather on the phone and I grabbed the last bits in about 10 minutes before it poured. When DH and I were going out for a walk my neighbour said she watches what I do with the washing because I always get it right. I wish! I made sure she knew I am a manic weather checkerIt's dry at the moment but due to rain again soon. In an hour I have to go round to see my DD's dog. If it's dry I will walk him, if not it's cuddles
Then I'll feed him and come back home.
Hope everyone's OK x5 -
Hi all
Very glum this morning, DH is at work both today and tomorrow and this cold is NOT shifting, in fact 4 days in I am starting to wonder whether it's just a cold. Anyhow, we needed bread and milk so I decided to drive to the shop but park up near the river for a little walk first to get some fresh air. I set off on my walk and felt so ill that I cut it short, did a quick dash into the shop trying to avoid getting near anyone then headed home.
Homemade tomato soup for lunch, I will make pizza for tea. I am now under the heated blanket with my book.
Well done on getting the logs in for winter Kaz. I was wondering whether we need some coal, must get DH to check.6 -
Afternoon all,
I hope you feel better soon, YL. I believe that there is a lot of it about.
I haven’t achieved a great deal today, one reason and another. I dragged DH off to visit the nearby town’s Open Art Studios - but it isn't until next weekend! Luckily, I realised after only about 8 miles, so it could have been worse…
I popped up to the allotment, got caught in a short, not too heavy shower, listened to the rumbling thunder and abandoned ship. Obviously then the sun came out. I have spent an hour in the garden, filling the green bin for next week, so all was not lost. I don’t think that I have actually achieved anything towards the September Challenge today, although I have got inordinately excited about my new collapsible laundry basket and a cake tin to replace my ancient starting-to-rust one.4
