Afternoon all. It was a lovely morning but it's thundering now and just started to rain. You can tell when it's school pick up time by the rain!Congratulations on the forthcoming grandchild wendywitch.I got a washload done and dried this morning and cut the grass so the thunderstorm is probably my fault....Apart from the dailies that's about it for me but at least I got the things done that I wanted to.Hope everyone's OK x6

Morning. Wordle in three. Hope you're all ok today.
Had a rough night as the alarm went off at DHs work which interrupted slumber. I have work today but will see what flying I can get done first.
Have a great day everyone.Spend less now, work less later.5 -
Morning all xx
Heigh ho. Heigh ho. Pah!
I'm up, made my bed, dressed, taken my meds, turned over the calendars, packed my lunch bag, completed Strands with no hints, completed Wordle in three, completed Connections with one life lost, changed Joey's seed and water, eaten breakfast and I'm supping a brew.
Don't want to go. Nothing wrong. I'd just rather stay at home. Four days at the paid stuff then I have a week off. I can do this.
It's a year ago today since that man drove into me and wrote off Vin Diesel. Well, it was 10th September, but it was Tuesday. So that's today.
I'll feed the birds and put out the recycling before I set off. And I plan to pay the rent and call to see Pops on my way home.
Have a good day.
Better take Fayolle her cup of tea or she'll be out of bed and making her own brew. ...

I am no longer employed; they've run out of money. Fortunately I have a pension coming into payment this month so it isn't a crisis. I will continue to volunteer there but fewer hours/days. Think I'll aim for 1 day/week for about 5 hours, I was in the process of deciding whether to retire anyway but I had a feeling that decision would be made for me.
Anyway DW emptied and fridge sorted. I have plums cooking but I'm going to do jelly rather than jam as I can't face fishing for umpteen plum stones - small plums =lots of stones.
So my decision to buy my laptop was timely.

Hope you enjoy your retirement Valli.
From today's list I s&sd kitchen and did all the ironing (5 items). Also freshened sofa throws, changed bedding, did exercise, walked Poppet, two wash loads- all now dry ready to put away, checked banking and did a five hour work shift.
Was going to pop to shop to post a parcel but I can't be bothered today. I'll take Poppet out again after dinner which DH is making as usual. Lamb curry tonight.Spend less now, work less later.6 -
Late check in from me today. But it was lovely to start the day with a cuppa, Round😊x
Valli, sometimes it is easier when the decision is made for you. I probably wouldn’t have left when I did if I hadn’t had my hand forced. Enjoy the extra time for you.
I did another hour or so admin this morning, resulting in another headache. Bedding changed, washed, line dried and ironed. Bedroom dusted and vacuumed. Other upstairs rooms given a cursory vacuum. HHI. A bit of greenhouse tidying including pot washing which had got out of hand.
September Challenge - I can’t remember yesterday’s although I know I did something. It will come to me at 4am no doubt. Today: fixed a lunch date with an ex work colleague - just hadn’t got round to it; washed pots in gh; finally ordered new laundry basket. I think that was it, although the aim for the month to uncram the freezers of old random food is progressing. That said, I was shocked how much my Mr M order comes to, given that we are eating all home grown f&v and there are no dinners in the shop, just storecupboard and household bits.

Yet again I haven't done much.
Someone next door has been drilling most of the afternoon. I couldn't see a builders van so I'm guessing it was her dad. Whoever it was was doing it all day yesterday as well. So as you can imagine my head is pounding.
Also today the water board have dug up the path in front of the neighbours the other side's driveway.
Today I had my shopping delivered so I've put that away. I've rejigged my meal plan to use up some bits out of the fridge.
I phoned the dentist to get appointments for myself and DD2 as we both have toothache and was surprised to get some for Saturday! Only with the technician but we're happy with any help.
Sorted a few more bits for charity and have a pile of clothes to try on.
I've put the bins out for collection tomorrow, before I forgot.
The indoor food waste bin has been put in the DW and that has been put on (it was full).
I'm now going to sort out some dinner.6 -
Comments much appreciated. I kind of expected it, as I think I have said. Luckily it isn't a crisis financially.
Neighbour came round with massive box which I didn't know had been delivered; both she and the delivery driver were confused by how light it was - my bubble wrap. I'd had no notification of delivery at all. Anyway I have now packed another box of precious items - my lead crystal glass collection. They'll need to stay packed up until my new furniture arrives because my 1980s units will be history as soon as the decorating starts.
E bay package taken and popped into my old job - they're off to an outward bound centre soon and I wanted to donate mum's old hiking boots to the centre - they keep a stock for children who might not have them. Also took 3 jars of chilli jam in for a former colleague and her girls. Was nice to see them though shocking to see how big the children I left behind now are - but I remembered lots of names! And I got a couple of hugs (from former colleagues) too. And was told how well I look!
I've stuff to take to the CS and things to drop off at a friend's, too.

Everything seems to have worked out for the best for you, Valli. You'll find plenty to fill your retirement - you're not one to let the grass grow under your feet! - but don't forget to leave time to simply enjoy your new status too.
It has felt like a busy day today, although I don't seem to have done enough to write a list of achievements. I did take Rosie out for her walk to the Covert, and I did go to the Knit and Natter, but in reality neither involved any flying. I came home from the K&N with 3 more jars and lids, so with the two I was given on Sunday I now have enough to make another small batch of jam tomorrow. I was supposed to be going out to the NT group's speaker meeting this evening, but had forgotten that I was also invited to the group chat with my friend who is currently in a women's refuge and her young daughter, and I couldn't let them down. By the time we'd stopped, it was too late to go to the meeting - but not to worry, there'll be another one next month.
Sleep tight, everyone xxx
