What is in the box beside the freezer @Watty1?!
Bah to the heater @Cheery_Daff but at least it's not happened mid winter, good to know it should be okay after MOT with the colder months coming up.
Well done on the damsons (and feeding the birds), and cancelling that subscription! Does that free up some money for the budget this Christmas?https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6466032/an-in-between-phase

Well my dad's not bothered with Christmas or birthdays for the last few years so I might just not bother either, so yes 🙄😂
Oops, forgot to mention another OAT this evening - made a small fabric bag for something I borrowed from someone t work ages ago. Well, not borrowed - retained custody as she wasn't there at the end of the day, then keep forgetting to take in to give back to her. It's now in my work bag, in a nice shiny new carrying case which will hopefully make up for the amount of time I've had it 😂4 -
The box contained a lot of horse equipment, old boots, bridles and so on. I think I planned to donate it, but, doing so seemed a challenge so i just put it in a box and left it. Looking through it I realise a lot of it would probably sell on bay of E so, I have moved box to spare room and will ebay at some point in future.
Today's OAT is to clear enough space to get to the trunk in the spare room to put said items in wooden trunk for future sales when I have time to get ebay account up and going again and the headspace to do that.
In order to manage that OAT I will need to do another OAT which is hang pictures!Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!4 -

Am (yet again) having a clear-up in the veg plot before the rain arrives. After which I hope to spend some time cooking the stuff I find in the veg plot...
Masses of courgette/squash leaves/pea plants in the compost, so after I've refuelled with coffee I'll go back and pick the squash/courgettes/raspberries/beetroot ready to deal with later.4 -
This weekend I will mostly be doing work, holiday prep, and animal prep ready for my holiday.
I'm eating as much of the fridge contents as possible. I also need to clean and vinyl wrap the inside of the tortoise box to hopefully extend it's life for another 6 months. With the horrendous weather we're having here he might have to live in it (in the conservatory) while I'm on holiday.
One vinted parcel to post, and I need to remember to put holiday mode on it.Debts 04/01/25 01/09/25

I need to pull my big girl pants on at some point today. Solar is expecting only 8kWh tomorrow which is usually higher than I get due to the house orientation & shading & we use around 10kWh more than that. So..... I need to see how it goes filling the batteries during the night on the cheaper rate. Best case is 60p saving, worst is I totally blow it. If the day is really bad try a couple of mid afternoon kWhs to cover the expensive 4-7pm, saving about 10p per kWh so around 15p.I really need to do this went it doesn't really matter, so that I am ready for winter when I have had solar output on some days of zero. All life is a learning curve - sometimes a little larger than you expect!6

What tariff are you on badmemory? I moved from Flux to Agile last winter and with the new panels haven't bothered moving back as I pretty much don't use grid power during the summer months. I have been looking at the negative slots recently to see whether I can make use of them, but TBH I'd make more exporting than trying to use enough to make a bit of extra on the negative prices during the day. However, night slots are another matter, and I've discharged and refilled the batteries on a couple of occasions recently as practice for winter.
If you've got electric towel rails it's worth running those during the cheap rate slots too, so you get a bit of background heating.
I've done quite a bit of clearing in the veg plot (mostly courgette leaves) and found more courgettes and a squash I didn't know about. There's also a HUGE blue banana squash, but it isn't ready to pick yet. Second crop of strawberries is coming to an end, as are the autumn raspberries and runner beans. I also pulled almost all the beetroot and most of the carrots - hoping for negative electricity pricing tomorrow so I can shove a whole lot of stuff in the oven!
Soup is in one SC with stock from chicken bones, a little meat, two elderly courgettes, some broccoli stalks, the onion from the stock, and some lentils. I suspect it won't have much flavour, but I can add that. The other SC has apple in it stewing. I think I'll need to do a couple more batches.
Dog is looking sadly at me, as a. I didn't give him any apple and b. he hasn't had a proper walk for nearly a week (he's confined to barracks due to a broken dew claw and kennel cough). Cats have raised a formal complaint about the weather...5 -
I am on flux. My always big problem is the power shower & DS needing to have an around 30 min shower a day. Even if the battery is full it will always use 2kWh per day. We may have a small house but even having worked on our usage we are still using around 16/17kWh per day down from 20. Now it is all about trying to take advantage of anything that will lower our costs & learning how to do that. I need to sort it as I am 80 next birthday & need to be able to give DS instructions as to what to do before dementia gets hold. Sorry forget you can't hear me laughing when I type.I am joining your cats in their formal complaint about the weather. I mean expected solar only 8 for tomorrow which means under 7 unless we are very lucky. Today was estimated at 22 & so far only 13.4

I've woken up feeling rough as I have a sore throat so I am staying in today. I did try and book a flu jab, but they said it was too early. I realised afterwards that as I'm on carer's allowance I could get it for free so I will contact the GP on Monday.
I did look through the tinned cupboard and checked dates and rearranged them. I need to do a grocery order tomorrow as I want more tinned goods. I fancy soup, but homemade, so my husband just went out to buy a few things so I'm making tomato and fresh basil soup later as that is just what I fancy tonight.
We managed to lose the cats vaccs card at the cattery so my husband just picked up a replacement card.
I managed to chip my front tooth last week. It chipped years ago and I keep having to get it filled in so I have a dentist appointment on Monday. I hope I'm feeling okay by then. I don't have a cough or a fever so I'm hoping it is just a short cold.5
