I found the biggest difference came about with the type of gun used. I always struggled with the cheap frame type guns but bought a cartridge type gun from Lidl once for about £5 and the difference was amazing.

i need to watch some YouTube’s I can’t get this wrong and end up with leaks. I ordered this one in end. Thankyou for your continued advice.

    That's a cracking job!
Before applying the silicone, make sure it's bone dry and completely clean. Use a clean cloth, and press it firmly along the joint, giving it a good rub.
Are there any voids or gaps there, under the tiles? If so, I'd like to ensure these are filled at the same time.
Choose your tool shape and size - go 'bevel', and one of the larger sizes. The finished bead will likely look bigger than you expect, but I think it's more important to get a good solid reliable bead down. Don't forget, you can always do a test run.
Then you just have to go for it.

You need to ensure you squeeze the trigger at a consistent smooth rate and move the gun at a consistent smooth speed, preferably doing both without stopping. It becomes much easier with practice.

Smooth out from the corners.  I’m right handed so I tend to run the bead all the way along one side of the shower tray then smooth out with the Fugi about an inch from the left hand corner, stop and clean the tool then smooth the full length of the bead from the right hand corner.

Same again for the other two sides

Oh thanks that’s made my day 😊

I was wondering about that, there’s definitely gaps under the tiles. I got out as much silicone as I could but it’s possible a tiny bit got pushed back into the voids. So I would pack the gaps with silicone first and when I can see they are loaded, start with the bead ?

I don’t understand what you mean by choose your tool shape and bevel (utter novice sorry 😂) ive got the little square gadget someone recommended. Do you mean how much end i cut off the silicone tube ? Thanks in advance

Also the corner does worry me as it’s already got the bottom of the vertical bead, so do I just go over that bump with my horizontal bead and make it as smooth as possible ? Thankyou 😊

A workmate of mine who's a New Zealand chippie can't understand why we have shower trays that need sealing at the bottom with silicone that goes mouldy and leaks after a few years. One's with a decent upstand don't need this.

But alas, that's not what people in the UK have!

You can get shower trays with upstands here, I've got one myself. The upstands here are normally only 25mm, whereas over there it's 40mm.
