TNC Collections - Parking Fines (PCNs) on flat parking

I moved into a flat in London in April, and it came with a parking space.
Unbeknownst to me, I had been receiving parking fines (PCNs) for that bay, but they were sent to my old address because I forgot to update my V5C logbook with the DVLA (stupid me). I only found out about them when the tenant at my old address messaged me as they got my number through my old landlord, and were being bombarded with letters. At first, I paid what I thought was the only outstanding PCN.
However, I later received more letters about additional fines - both to my old address and my current one. I emailed TNC Collections last week to explain that I had not received the earlier notices (genuinely true) and they told me they got my details from the DVLA and that there are 7x unpaid PCNs linked to my registration, all issued on the same date for the same bay.
They have asked me to prove I updated my V5C in May (which I hadn’t otherwise the letters would have come to me directly). They also said they do not handle disputes or appeals, as they are just a debt recovery agency so they expect me to pay all the fines.
The total they are asking for is £1,190. I do not want to pay this amount, especially as it is seven fines for what is essentially my own flat’s parking space, which feels unreasonable.
What should I do? I accept that I should have updated my V5C and sorted my permit sooner, but this still seems excessive.
Any help is appreciated and understandable if you think this is unsolvable.
Thanks!

you should check your lease - anything that is in there over-rides anything a parking company choose to try and say.
What does your lease say about parking - and also what doesn't it say?

Hi DE_612183,
Thanks for the reply, my tenancy agreement mentions nothing of a parking space, but I have been in contact with the estate agents at the time of moving and my landlord to confirm it is part of the flat. Just nothing written in the official tenancy document.0 -
All you need to do is update the address with the parking company and the dpo at TNC.
You then ignore TNC in full

Find an owner-occupier in your development and ask to read theirs.1 -

The total they are asking for is £1,190.You won't be paying a penny.
You have no 'fines'.
No worries as long as you follow POST 4 and then POST 2 of the NEWBIES thread. It us vital you get TNC and the PPC to erase the old address from their records so all letters come to the right place.
Please, please stick around and get some revenge on the parking industry. This is your one chance to change the law. This month only.
We encourage you and other drivers in your family to do separate responses (not word for word copies please).
To be part of the push to change things in future, it's very important that people like you tell the Government that:
a) motorists have no faith in POPLA or the IAS and that there must be a SINGLE APPEALS SERVICE that people trust. The sector is crying out for an independent and impartial appeals service - not two involved in a race to the bottom - that will give a real option to resolve disputed cases out of court.
b). THE ENRICHMENT OF 'DEBT RECOVERY FEES' MUST BE COMPLETELY BANNED. CASES ARE NOT SOLVED BY DEMANDING MORE MONEY AND OFFERING A 'PAYMENT PLAN' THAT ONLY THE VULNERABLE PAY. DRAS MAKE NO MONEY IF THEY HANDLE DISPUTES IN THE SPIRIT OF THE APPEALS CHARTER, WHICH IS WHY THEY ALWAYS PLOUGH ON TO COURT CLAIMS AND CCJs, RATHER THAN OFFERING REAL RESOLUTION AT PRE-ACTION STAGE. THEY OFFER NOTHING, NO LEGITIMATE OPTION TO KEEP CASES OUT OF COURT.
c) At residential car parks PCNs MUST be affixed to windscreens. There is no justification in letting people on foot take photos them for PPCs to obtain DVLA data that they KNOW for new tenants is likely to be out of date. Tensnts move on average once a year. At these sites there is no justification in getting DVLA data then refusing to reissue PCNs.

We will discuss it further in a few days or at the weekend on that thread if you want more focus.
Show the Government the TNC letter and please show it to us as well, as a picture here. That letter is one I'd like to use as evidence that DRAs do not do the right thing by consumers and this, DRA fees must be banned. It cannot be right that the DRAs offer no win no fee agreements to PPCs and only get paid if they ignore disputes. For that reason: payment of DRAs for a service MUST come from parking firms.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

DRA fees must be banned
DRA's practiceEXTORRION
Just look at the TNC website
https://www.tnccollections.com/parking/
TNC Collections are authorised by the DVLA and BPA (British Parking Association).
So the BPA and DVLA authorise EXTORTION
GOVERNMENT ...... that's illegal ???

Thank you for the information.
I have read the newbies thread steps and need some clarification. I don't think POST 2 is strictly relevant to me as far as I am aware. The only letters I have been sent are the ones attached below not an LBC (please correct me if I'm wrong). These were sent to both me and my old address. I have emailed/online formed TNC collections about these letters before reading these threads instructing me that this was not the right thing to do and I was an idiot to acknowledge them. As per POST 4, you say to get in contact with their data protection officer at both TNC and NPE ltd to erase the old address. Should I be getting in touch with both companies if they hold these PNC's against me and I have acknowledged I am aware of the letters with TNC?
As far as they are concerned I have 7x unpaid PCNs all for my parking space and they are asking that I prove that I have changed my V5C before May for these to not be payable.
Would love to know what the next course of action would be, and what I should do in my scenario.
Hopefully the attached letters from both me and the old address holder is enough to guide me.
One last question is do they continue sending these letters in the hope you eventually pay? or do they just give up sending them.
Apologies for the many questions and thank you in advance!
Letters received so far (that I know of), tried to keep all important info and the date of issue clear.

Very pretty red font.
Honestly, ignore these apart from stating your current address and telling NPE and TNC to erase the old address.
We aren't going to tell you to do anything more. Like I said, follow POST 4 and then POST 2 (in that order) in the NEWBIES thread which tells you what happens next.
Please do the Public Consultation. Read some threads about it. We need the added £70 banned completely to make these DRA firms start acting in the interests of consumers.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

They are such an ignorant bunch of people @ TNC. ignore any threats, just instruct them to update their records . but its mainly NPE who need to do this rather then TNC1
