A Good Christmas (if not the one we planned)
It was a quiet but enjoyable day yesterday. We opened our presents to each other after breakfast over coffee and Christmas chocolate. Then it was off to the restaurant for a lovely lunch. The food and service were excellent but they had put us on the worst table. We were shoved to the side by the front door with a view of the car park. I was next to a large window and, when the sun came out, I had to leave my seat because it was so hot and Mr F had to squint to see what he was eating 😂 A bit disappointing seeing as we'd paid for four places - we were probably paying the most out of everyone there for our lunch. I asked to be moved but the restaurant was full and there were no other seats. It didn't spoil our lunch though. At the end the manager said he would "do something" to make amends once their busy period was over.
We spent the afternoon calling friends and relatives and had a long video call with the Younger and Littlest Fortunates. Littlest is definitely on the mend 😂 He's obsessed with the Christmas tree decorations and managed to break one while we were talking 😂 We have arranged for them to come and visit the first weekend in January so will leave the decorations up until then and have a belated Christmas with them.
I'm very tired today. I think I'm coming down from all the recent drama. We've nothing planned so I think a day of snoozing in front of the log burner may be in order.
I did make it to the 'Nice' list this year and received the very best of Christmas presents - we are to be grandparents again! Another little Fortunate will be arriving late Spring 😁
I hope you had a fabulous day and continue to enjoy the season.

Lazy Day
Thank you everyone - it is the best news 😁
I went back to bed yesterday morning with a cup of coffee and the Christmas chocolates 🤭 Slept for 3 hours! I must have needed it. Mr F was in the barn repairing the truck so didn't miss me.
I got up for lunch which was charcuterie and antipasti. But the day ended up as a pj day in the end. Supper was macaroni cheese with pigs in blankets and baked beans. I'd bought three as part of the Christmas meal plan so there's one more to go 😂
I'd like to get back to some healthier eating today. It won't be easy - the fridge is full of cheese and there's cake, mince pies, ice cream..... now where did I put my self control? 🤣 I've admin to do today so I'd better get out of these pjs pronto 😂
Have a great Twixmas guys.

Number Crunching
Today I've been mainly focussing on money 🥳 Which is what I'm here for after all 😂 I have:- reconciled the bank accounts
- reconciled the credit card account and paid it off in full
- paid our December salary
- tidied up the business accounts
- completed the paperwork for this year's dividend payments
- bought some premium bonds
- budgetted until the end of February
- arranged the return of a parcel.
I've been trying to give some thought to goals for the new year but I'm struggling to think past our current legal challenge. It might drag on for ages so I don't want to put the rest of life on hold until it's over. But it is taking up a lot of head space.
Lunch was lentil chilli with cheddar, sour cream and a jacket potato. Supper was Creamy Leek & Garlic Mushroom Pasta. There is still a lot of festive food in the house and my willpower appears to be broken 😂
As is traditional, I have lost track of time and have spent the day thinking it was Monday instead of Sunday 😂 This Twixmas is already feeling like the longest in history. Littlest Fortunate is well enough to visit next weekend so we can't wait!
Hope you've had a great weekend.
