Sorry to bring this thread back from the dead (though hopefully still salient topic).

Would you say this is still a good idea for someone trading rarely but with bigger sums(5k or more)?

I was considering opening with iweb lately but I cant figure out the likelihood that SW wont substantially redesign the fee structure and make the platform less competitive. Is there any point to wait and see how it goes first?

Also, from experience, how long does it roughly take you to transfer SS ISA into iweb?

Go for it - they have said they won't change the fee structure and I believe them, as that's the main selling point of this otherwise clunky platform.

If they change it then simple re-assess and move.

Questions like that usually boil down to the length of a piece of string, as there are various factors affecting this, such as which provider is at the other end of the transfer process, whether it's transferring in specie or in cash, etc, but no harm in using the forum search facility for mentions of 'iweb isa transfer' to gather anecdotal data....

Currently with Halifax for my S&S ISA, with a regular investment into 2 funds each month.

Never looked into iWeb as at the time they had the upfront fee. Presumably, with no upfront or annual fee, and the free regular trading, I'd be better switching to iWeb/SW now? (Assuming they have the same 2 funds for me to do so)

Well £0 pa is better than £36 and £5 trades are better than £9.50 so yes
Halifax have fee free regular investing but so will Scottish Widows once it happens
They will almost certainly have your funds and one would hope that a transfer would be pretty seamless as behind the branding they are effectively the same

Was just reading up on no cost regular investing option from an exchange traded instruments perspective.  Obviously I could wait a couple of weeks (for the 18th), but I am intrigued if their zero cost regular investment option would include ETFs etc?  There is little / no specifics qualifying the offer, but was just intrigued by peoples thoughts?
