It feels like they didn’t properly test the migration.  Echoes of TSB a few years ago.

TSB's migration was far worse, had a serious impact on many customers with £32m in compensation paid out and a £49m fine from the FCA.
In this case the old system was brought right back online and has been working just fine ever since.

Except this is an example where they had an issue and reversed it. Unlike TSB

Back in my working time we did a number of large scale data migrations, and one or two of them had to be backed out for different reasons, e.g. errors or simply where progress fell too far behind the schedule. There can be many reasons.

Pure speculation but I wonder if they also (at least partially) paused trying to reconsider the fee structure. Based on what they annouced at least, it sounds as if they offer an option to go completely free on an ISA level(via regular investments) which is in quite stark contrast to what SW offer as a SIPP.

From Iweb login today: "We always try and keep maintenance periods to a minimum, this weekend our Online service will be unavailable from Saturday 29th November 2025 08:00 to Sunday 30th 10:00".
Much longer than a routine tidy-up and six weeks after the first attempted migration. Could this be  another attempt?

In my experience over the years it's regularly down at the weekend - IIRC it was down on Saturday last week or the week before - so I don't think we can draw any conclusions.

Certainly no conclusion, but what you may have missed is that it's to be down for 26 hours.  I've been checking my accounts there every Saturday for the past 15 years and can't remember when the site has been offline for routine maintenance much beyond Saturday lunchtime.  Being offline for 26 hours has never been "regular".
Whether this will be the full migration or just preparation for it, we won't know until it's done.  Correct me if I'm wrong, but IIRC, when they tried the migration last month, the site was back up by around 10 pm on the same day.

On multiple occasions I remember it being down the whole weekend. We don't have enough data. My guess is we'll be told when they try again.
