Seriously though has the OP been able to confirm any of the neigbours tale? It could  be absolute rubbish or just someone with a small personal grow tent that the police were tipped off about and its all got blown out of proportion.

I need some advice please. We moved a week ago and have made the biggest mistake,  and I'm so incredibly upset.

When meeting my new neighbour yesterday, she made me aware that in or around 2023 the property we just purchased was a cannabis farm. Neither the seller or the estate agent told us. The estate agents were aware as they were the ones that were letting it out at the time and then sold it to us. I'm very upset about this, I live in this house with my family including our 2 year old child.

I contacted the local police yesterday but was told they can't give me any info due to GDPR. I've submitted a freedom of information request but it'll likely not succeed.

I need evidence of the crime and that this house was a cannabis factory in order to take legal action against the seller and agent. I wouldn't have purchased this house if I had known.

National Grid confirm the meter was changed and a new supply put in Nov 2023, after supply was disconnected.

Difficulty is that the previous owners live in South Africa. I'm so upset by this. I don't know what else to do.
I have not read the whole thread but what are you going to tell district judge who asks you as per the title of this thread.
"What particular lie do you allege that the sellers told?"

Ok omission - kind of a big thing to not tell us. It has got me thinking that the TA6 isn't fit for purpose for things to be disclosed like this
But as others have pointed out, it's hardly obvious that it makes any objective difference to the value or marketability of the property. So are you suggesting sellers ought to try to predict what individual buyers might have a bee in their bonnet about? The purpose of the form is to cover the usual concerns, if you have particular requirements then you'll need to ask about them yourself.

So, if you decide to sell up, will you be honest enough to declare on the TA6 about the cannibis farm?
Will you instruct your estate agent to tell, and of course, if you had folks viewing you would use ' hey, this used to be a cannibis farm', as a selling point.

But you expect them to have told you.

Have you now accepted that they did not lie and did not need to offer the information

Just keep any viewers away from your neighbour.

Ah, so you accept that now?
So, what about these statements in your opening post, how are you proceeding?
''I contacted the local police yesterday but was told they can't give me any info due to GDPR. I've submitted a freedom of information request but it'll likely not succeed.''

You can’t really criticise the previous owner for doing exactly the same as you will do if/when you sell!

I've added "was the house ever a weed farm" to my list of questions for future house purchases, alongside "are there any deceased relatives buried in the garden".
