OHs birthday was awful, a real non-event this year. I still feel guity but I'm telling myself being ill can't be helped. He is totally unfazed. Health-wise I've been poorly since 21/1. I'm finally getting rid of this latest cold but still have a bad cough and my vertigo has returned with a vengeance.

In MSE news my YNAB categories have been a lot more stable and peaceful as I have been stuck indoors st home. Being ill is mostly moneysaving. I have plundered my medical category for personal spends after having to postpone the hygienist. I decided to move the saved travel costs from being too ill to visit family on the train into a seperate emergency fund. I'm up to £94.10 in there already, as well as an untouched £239.71 in stashed money from V1nted, surveys, delay repay etc since I started this diary. I am trying to do enough surveys to get to at least £250 this month. Currently £1 due from V1inted and £9.05 in surveys so I just need 24p!

I have not raided savings this month, have a zero credit card balance and while I am YNAB broke I have nearly £300 in my current account. All allocated to future plans but pretty good for a miserable January. Onwards and upwards.

I forgot to brag that I'm up to 18 no spend days in January so far! I am loving the NSD thread, it's really motivating me and I have actually managed to keep count for once.

Hope you are feeling much better. You can have an unbirthday day for OH when you are feeling better - maybe a nice home cooked fakeaway or take a coffee and cake and go for a walk somewhere nice when it eventually stops raining.

Your progress since starting your diary is amazing.

My free money savings pot is £247.91 and my emergency fund is £94.10 saved from train fares when I stayed home as I was poorly. YNAB categories this month are underfunded by £196.73 which is mainly £171.41 unbudgeted spending money.

Problem categories are medical and my big weekend fund. I paid my dentist from my current account but I can smooth things out by paying my hotel bill next weekend on my credit card. I can still pay in full so no interest but at the start of March instead. I have allocated £175 spending money in February and I have no weekly hobby meet-ups until March so that meansI am starting with a more realistic budget. I am desperate to keep on track with presents, my father's beer and book fund, Christmas pots etc as otherwise I will be scratching around later in the yesr.

The complication is that Little Sis went into hospital again yesterday and this cost me a fortune last October. I need to try and stay calm and not do anything expensive to help. Last time it was food and drink in the hospital cafe, emergency car insurance so I could drive my father to visit her (but my vertigo rules out doing that this time) food shopping in a panic for my father and taxis to the hospital. Worst case scenario there is £342.01 in the above pots to help get through it. I have not gone to the hospital yet but I am feeling very stressed at home.

Plans for today were prep for my big weekend next weekend, chill and go to Canary Wharf this evening to see the lights. Maybe I can still do this.

January NSDs 18/10 and AFDs 10/14 assuming I don't get through today without spending or a drink.

Thanks PiP yes the Canary Wharf lights were lovely. I've done most of my packing for next weekend and had a bath too so feeling a lot more human. Family visit tomorrow.
