De-lurks for a while.
A mixed week. Upside were we had a good holiday and enjoyed the Welsh Show, a couple of gardens, too much coffee and cake, stayed on a lovely smallholding with ducks, geese, goats, chickens and a river.
Downside was the continued pain in my shoulder which is also in my elbow and - when the whim takes it - in my neck and hand. After doing mainly admin at 'work' on Tuesday which I felt was fairly innocuous, it was so painful I rang the GP and got an appt for Monday (I have to be desperate to go to the GP; give me a sadistic dentist any day!), hoping that by the time Friday came it would all feel better so I could cancel.........nah. So in between getting really down about that, or maybe it's just a lurking BD, I have managed a bit of gardening, food shopping, completed and sent off my tax return, got our new neighbour to quote for cleaning our solar panels and done the odd bit of housework. Mr N has done a lot of flying and I'm very grateful as mostly I've been either asleep, seemingly exhausted so just sitting reading or just plain miserable. It always happens if I can't get enough exercise and I feel really sorry for Mr N.
However, it is Mr N's birthday tomorrow today and his brother is arriving after lunch, so I have finally pulled myself together a bit. I've just been gathering all the ingredients together to make a cake, which I'll whizz in the food mixer while I'm making morning tea. I've done a mental meal plan but it didn't need much thought as we're going out for a Thai meal tomorrow (booked by me), going to lunch with friends on Monday (so Mon eve may not need much thought) and we're going out for the day on Tuesday (photographing badgers) so will probably eat out again. Bye bye slinkiness.
So tomorrow is make cake, give Mr N his present and cards, go to church, welcome BIL, get ready for dinner out.
Monday is: take car in to have repairs done (2 people separately went into me last month; one owned up and will pay, the other scarpered), go to GP. Depending what she says, I may try a bit of zumba in the evening before I go totally crazy.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.6 -
Happy birthday, Mr Narc0. And a gentle hug for Narc0 x. Sticks for your lurking BD. I hope you get a solution and also find some exercise that doesn’t aggravate the injury. Being the world’s laziest person, I am probably underqualified to help on the exercise front. Have a lovely time with your days out, slinky can wait - photographing badgers has to be one of the most niche things that someone has written here!I have checked the decorating and it looks fine, so just the ceiling touch up where my hand stupidly slipped to sort out. In the meantime, spiders seem to have moved in to the corners. Does this mean that autumn is in the air? I’m pretty sure that it is lurking somewhere in the mornings now.
Wm is swishing. DH has gone for his day out. I am having a coffee with a friend later. DD is meeting a friend in the gridlocked small town. I intend to tackle the ironing pile, make some bread, meal plan, and work out what yesterday’s batch of beans will be transformed into. I’m not feeling the chutney love today so it may be into the meals or the freezer for this lot.4 -
Morning all xx
I was stood at the back door breathing in a breath of 'autumn's coming' at 6.30 am. Its gone now. Humid. Grey. Summer dross.
So. I'm up, made my bed, dressed, turned over the calendars, taken my meds, completed Strands with three hints, completed Wordle in four, completed Connections with one life lost, read a bit, prayed a bit, supped two brews, eaten breakfast, WULTD, fed the birds, filled the birdbath and the hedgehog's dish, watered the hanging basket and set WM swishing with towels and tea towels. Yesterday's dry washing has been FUPA.
Coffee time methinks.

(((hugs))) Narco and I've thrown some sticks for your BD. Happy Birthday to Mr N.Two tip runs yesterday with the ivy I've already chopped up, and the wonderful DIY chap has been back this morning to put an evil chemical inside the racalitrent wall, having drilled holes in the ivy roots embedded there which are as thick as my arm. The wall is in A Lot of Trouble. There was a queue at the tip because it seems most car drivers don't understand that it's okay to use the many, many vacant spaces that aren't right next to the dump area they need, until I did on the first trip, and on the second trip all the parking bays were full, and no queue. Excellent. There's still an ivy pile that needs chopping but today I need a day of rest from the physical stuff.I will do ironing because it's halfway through the summer and my summer dressing gown hasn't seen the light of day yet this year because it's a bit crumpled, as in totally unwearable and I'm not particularly fussy, but there are limits. We also rescued a window box that had fallen, or topped over, or been pushed off the only south-facing windowsill in the house. One of the cats had a limp after the incident a few days ago, so I assume she was involved. Smashed geraniums and broken bits of dwarf tomato plants .... Beloved repotted the two tomato plants that, as it turns out, weren't dwarf at all and they may have been a bit too heavy for stability in which case the cat is innocent, but she behaved as if she had something to feel guilty about so I don't know. Anyway, that's a problem solved but the tomato plants went into a pot I was hoping to use for one of my cucumber plants. Decisions decisions.Must also wash the kitchen floor and mealplan.Better is good enough.5

Evening. Not enough washing for a load today, and I thought it was supposed to rain but we only had about six spots. Bathroom and toilet fully cleaned. Dog walked four times. Flowers deadheaded and watered. I feel exhausted but I don't appear to have done very much!5
