Cancellation of BT line rental;Tiscali replacement

Problem is with BT you don't have to put your calls through BT, the wise choice is keep your line rental with BT and put your calls through another provider like Primus Saver 2 and Call 18185, get free caller display from BT etc.
The VERY UNWISE choice is to move line rental away from BT - VERY UNWISE!!
Actually you won't be paying less than me, I got a deal from Virgin Media where I don't pay for my line rental, I don't pay for my call package and I don't pay for Caller Display. I was VoIP only for almost 2.5 years and for those 2.5 years I only paid £6 in total - that's £6 for 2.5 years of calls / service etc (as there is no line rental with VoIP). However as Virgin Media wanted to keep me as a customer they offered me the deal of cheaper broadband, cheaper TV and offered to install a phone line (previously was with BT for line rental before the 2.5 years without and VoIP only - but even then I was sensible not to move line rental away from BT but put calls through elsewhere) and give me the phone service free of charge.
You pay for TV as well! 0 0

You pay for TV as well!
You do if you want all the channels and via a decent infrastructure!
For 2 years I wasn't paying for my TV channels, but that was a package like the Tiscali one.
BTW, you are paying for the TV as you are phone line rental, it's just that it's all in the one price.
Companies like to say free this and free that, when they mean it's inclusive. After all, would you still be able to get these free services if you didn't pay any money?
It seems like you are easily fooled, for that I am sorry. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0

I've never dialled numbers like that in my life!
Well goes to show you are easily ripped off.
The sensible amongst us have known about 18185, 1899 etc for years. These are the companies that really can save you money. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... Hold on, you don't work for BT do you? :rotfl:
LOL - what ever gave you that idea.
It's just that we know the sensible choice, the wise choice. After all we've been helping people save money on phone calls for quite sometime, we've looked into the savings for many a year, on here and in the newsgroups before MSE.It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... As do you, apparently. You pay for TV as well! I've just bought a Freeview Setanta box primarily for the English and Scottish Premier League games that are shown live on there, but it also has other sports on it. As it's only £9.99 per month and no 12 month contract, I think it's pretty good value if your into football, obviously it depends on your Freeview coverage!Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0

 Think very carefully before going anywhere near Tiscali!! Average time to get through to their Customer Service is 30mins+. When you finally get through most of the operators are next to useless.!
I signed up for Broadband(8MB) Anytime Talk and Line rental at £19.99/month + £30 set up on Dec19 07. I was asurred there would be no loss of service and everything would be completed in 10 - 14 days. On 07 Jan 08 (19 days) they cut off my Ontel Broadband without any prior notification. When I finally got to their customer service they denied they had cut me off but then sent me an e-mail advising me they had taken over my line and would be sending me a modem. Since changing to Tiscali my Broadband Speed has dropped from 2.2MB with Ontel to 1.1MB. So much for their offer of 8MB!!!!!!!
I am still waiting for them to take over my line rental and call package.
Tiscali will promise everything when you order but forget about customer service once they have your order. If U-Switch consider them No1 for Customer satisfaction just think how dire the other companies are!!!0

You have my sympathy but I would like to move to Tiscal (eventually) if they can improve customer services;its definitely competitive price-wise0

I have received appalling service from Tiscali. I tried to move my line rental from BT to Tiscali and I have not had a phone at home since 29th November. I have complained to Tiscali but their customer service is abysmal and I have got nowhere. I have spent hours on their helpline for which I have the privilege of paying. I have written to their General Manager and not even had a reply and I have no idea who to contact next.
I now cannot go back to BT without starting a new 12 month contract and I can't go to Talk Talk without a BT line. It has become a vicious circle. I will probably bite the bullet and go back to BT.
I would certainly not recommend Tiscali.
I'm exactly the same in that since the switch (9 days) I have lost my phone line and can do nothing about it. The help people promise call back that never happen. They tell me I'm through the worong department. After I eventually get through I'm put on hold and then dropped. All my emails are ignored. Brick wall. DONT DO IT.
Tip: type the help numbers into google and you'll find lots of peole with the same problem.0
