Cancellation of BT line rental;Tiscali replacement

I have been with Tiscali for phone and broadband for approx 2 months now. The hand over was fine and the billing is fine too! We had our line go down at the exchange over one weekend (Saturday through to Monday) after phoning (via my mobile) tiscali to report the problem they phoned me everyday at 2pm to update me on the progress.
My total bills have been £19.99 plus any calls to mobiles or premium rate type numbers and so far for 7 calls to mobiles the extra charge was approx £3.
I speak as I find and in the last 3 or 4 years of using Tiscali for broadband first and now Broadband and Phone, I am very happy with the service provided.

I have now experienced Tiscali service which is acceptable when you are buying a service but less so when seeking after-sales service. For example there is a free number for sales but the number for customer services is expensive. Both lines are frequently busy and one is redirected to the website. This is none too handy if the internet is down.0

Did you have to cancel your bt line or did tiscali do this for you?0

I'm due to switch to the £19.99 inclusive Tiscali package next week. Fine so far, had confirmation from BT of the switch with a full and final amount to be paid to them, together with a long list of what I will be 'missing out on'....yawn! All I'm interested in is a package with inclusive anytime calls and broadband where I don't have to also pay BT for the privilege of going over their network. I've been on Tiscali broadband for over a year without any problems and always had prompt service!
You have my sympathy. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0

Switch over to Tiscali has been fine, no loss of service, very pleased I'm not on rip-off BT Option 1, 2, 3, 4, 5......whatever, and safe in the knowledge I'm probably not paying as much as you!! :j
Problem is with BT you don't have to put your calls through BT, the wise choice is keep your line rental with BT and put your calls through another provider like Primus Saver 2 and Call 18185, get free caller display from BT etc.
The VERY UNWISE choice is to move line rental away from BT - VERY UNWISE!!
Actually you won't be paying less than me, I got a deal from Virgin Media where I don't pay for my line rental, I don't pay for my call package and I don't pay for Caller Display. I was VoIP only for almost 2.5 years and for those 2.5 years I only paid £6 in total - that's £6 for 2.5 years of calls / service etc (as there is no line rental with VoIP). However as Virgin Media wanted to keep me as a customer they offered me the deal of cheaper broadband, cheaper TV and offered to install a phone line (previously was with BT for line rental before the 2.5 years without and VoIP only - but even then I was sensible not to move line rental away from BT but put calls through elsewhere) and give me the phone service free of charge. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... Hold on, you don't work for BT do you? :rotfl:0
