I plan to swap to Tiscali for free line rental in an inclusive £19.99 package. It will be saving over a separate BT line rental but I am concerned about the quality of Tiscali services. Will they have 1571 facilites and call barring which BT provide?Any further comments will be most welcome

By handing over your line rental, you'll lose the ability to CPS your calls, use indirect access providers like 1899 and 18185 and have to pay whatever Tiscali decide to charge for non-inclusive calls.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0

The Tiscali Line Rental is not Free its inclusive in the bundle which you pay for.
They do support calling features see http://www.tiscali.co.uk/products/nm/online-rates-sheet.pdf for prices.
Their Customer Service now on a 0871 number is generally regarded as being awful.
I endorse what Heinz suggests that its not normally a good idea to move your line rental from BT.0

I have received appalling service from Tiscali. I tried to move my line rental from BT to Tiscali and I have not had a phone at home since 29th November. I have complained to Tiscali but their customer service is abysmal and I have got nowhere. I have spent hours on their helpline for which I have the privilege of paying. I have written to their General Manager and not even had a reply and I have no idea who to contact next.
I now cannot go back to BT without starting a new 12 month contract and I can't go to Talk Talk without a BT line. It has become a vicious circle. I will probably bite the bullet and go back to BT.
I would certainly not recommend Tiscali.0

See the 'HERE' link in my signature below for ways to save on your call costs when you have a BT line.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Thanks for the helpful comments. You are correct to point out that line rental is not free and forms part of an inclusive package. In view of what has been said I shall remain with BTfor the present and await another offer as I place a high value on service0

I 'upgraded' my service from Tiscali in October to include Broadband, free line rental and weekend calls for £14.99 a month. However I'm still getting bills from BT even though Tiscali confirm my line is provided by them. I have now written to BT to inform them of this and cancel my line. Is it possible that two companies could be supplying me with a line. Unlike Gas and Electric, is it my responsibility to cancel the other service when opting for a new one? If the worst happens and my phone line goes dead can tiscali just connect me and will I keep my same number? Any help/advice would be appreciated.
 Thanks0

I'm due to switch to the £19.99 inclusive Tiscali package next week. Fine so far, had confirmation from BT of the switch with a full and final amount to be paid to them, together with a long list of what I will be 'missing out on'....yawn! All I'm interested in is a package with inclusive anytime calls and broadband where I don't have to also pay BT for the privilege of going over their network. I've been on Tiscali broadband for over a year without any problems and always had prompt service!0

The easiest way to check whether your line is still with BT or not is to use their Charge Advice system:I 'upgraded' my service from Tiscali in October to include Broadband, free line rental and weekend calls for £14.99 a month.
 Thanks
Lift handset and dial *411# and listen for message. Replace handset.
Make a UK 01/02 call (preferably evening or weekend so, if you're still on BT, it'll only cost 4½p). If the exchange automatically calls you back immediately afterwards with the approx cost of the call, you're still on BT. If there's no immediate call back, the call has gone (free) over Primus.
You can switch off BT Charge Advice with #411#
There is no need to use the 1280 prefix when switching Charge Advice on or off.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0

You must be brave. Customers have continued to complain about a raft of problems with this provider for several years now, most commonly marking out poor support as being the biggest issue. So i hope you dont have a real problem with your service as they now use expensive 0871 numbers to contact them.0
