TalkTalk transfer to utility warehouse. Is this legal?

Given that TalkTalk are heavily in debt and losing loads of customers, it’s probably not a bad move to be switched to UW. From what the TT letter says, your service will remain the same and accessing your account will be the same.0

Interesting informatlon!I'm another who's been shuttled between 3 companies but (as yet) not had this information.I was however confused by getting an email and text to say my contract was up for renewal...........it's not, not until December .........which is a bit pushy even for BB providers.I swore never to be with TT again a decade or more ago because of the awful and exasperating CS but here I am with no choice, yet.Frankly, looking at customer service for providers that are reasonable for my low usage is needle and haystack so decided that I'd reluctantly stay with their offer - but in december only to find that the price I was offered in the email is not the one posted on my online account.Just waiting for the phone to fully charge so I can sort out why they are asking for renewal 4mts early as this is going to be a long wait I'm guessing.Don't suggest online chat - that is a complete waste of time these days and I don't have apps and social media access
I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

I got the weird renewal thing well ahead of time too.
Email arrived at the end of June, in contract until start of October! The email doesn't even have the date I was in contract on it - I had to dig around on my account to find that.
It could be that they're just giving us plenty of time to make a decision, but it does seem odd to contact so far in advance.
I'll probably just initiate a switch in the last month of my contract to grab some cashback and vouchers - Vodafone look to be around the same price-wise for me, so likely to go with them.

I looked at Vodaphone but their customer service appears to be worse than TT.I just rang to query this email and text and got good service- ish. Offered the same price as my current contract with smaller price rise - but it starts now.Irritating but a good saving over 1yr.Then I saw an Admin Fee of £30 for changing to a new contract so beware!I rang again to cancel the contract and the Admin Fee has been removed.Pleasant service, clear and to the point oh joy. Got to give them that. And no upselling.Mind there were mutterings about me being on Copper still and charges for upgrading so we'll see.Just Notea) Admin charges if you renew before the current end dateb) billing is a month in advance so 'prepayment' - arrange a move, renewal a month before the end date. You learn something ever day!

So they offer you options, but then try and charge an admin fee for taking one of the options :-D
I've not had to use CS for Shell, TalkTalk or Utility Warehouse so whoever I end up with going forward I'll just hope that continues to be the case!0 -
No idea what's going on now - received this from TalkTalk yesterday...

What happened to being transferred to Utility Warehouse?0 -
As a longstanding TalkTalk (ex-Tiscali) broadband customer I recently changed from Fibre35 to Fibre65 on a 24 month deal with no annual increases. I understand that the customers being transferred to Utility Warehouse are mainly the ADSL (broadband on copper, no fibre component at all) customers, not people on what they now call part-fibre contracts (Fibre to the Cabinet, FTTC) such as Fibre35 or Fibre65.0
