Hiya,
Sorry to drag up an old thread, but i've just started getting these spam texts from Switchfire. I've literally had about 10 in the last 2 weeks, different subjects, dodgy !!!!!! links and some with no stop numbers, the last 2 with 61177. That googles out as being part of switch fire.
I'm getting charged £5 a text for things that i've never signed up to, i rarely put my mobile number anywhere and O2 are saying they can do nothing but change my number. Not interested thanks.
What i don't understand is who i can complain to, how people are just allowed to take money from your account and i'm also worried that if i text STOP to that number, that it will just confirm it is a real number and then i'll get endless ones at £5 a text.
Any ideas?
Thanks!0 -
A couple of years ago I got a series of spam texts from a switchfire service called Fetish. I texted STOP and STOP ALL to them, but the messages continued. Despite never clicking on them and deleting them immediately they were still costing £1.50 a time.
I emailed Switchfire (I used info@switchfire.com) giving all the details and complaining that I had never requested or subscribed to any of their services. I asked for a swift refund of the amount I'd been charged, and to my surprise they emailed back and a cheque followed within a few days.
They came up with the rather pathetic excuse that my number (an Orange mobile) was "recycled" and that the previous owner had been one of their customers. Yeah, right . Anyhow, I was satisfied with the outcome and the texts stopped immediately.0 -
Thank you. I've lodged a complaint with Phonepayplus.org.uk and i will certainly be contacting Switchfire in the morning.
thanks for the info.0
