Woke this morning to gentle rain, which turned into steady drizzle for the next 3 hours. It's only dampened the top cm of soil. but at least it's washed the leaves (and my car) and laid the dust for a while, and it's about 10deg cooler than yesterday so I am feeling much brighter.
I have completed all my planned flying:
- copied the Y7 curriculum booklet from the school where W will be going in September, so that I know what topics they are covering each term and can arrange to take her out to relevant places of interest; sad to see that she will have yet another term of Tudor history, having already dealt with that period at depth in primary school for half of this academic year (what's the betting that they will face it again in the GCSE years?)
- dusted and hoovered through upstairs
- cleaned the bathroom, including giving two pot plants a shower
- decluttered into the recycled paper about a dozen old (1970s or earlier) children's paperbacks, much loved by me and/or my DC, that I had kept in the spare room for visiting grandchildren- the DGC have also all outgrown them now, and because the paper has gone brown and pages were loose, they were no longer attractive to anyone else
- hoovered downstairs
- did a food shop, very pleased to have kept below £35 despite filling 3 large bags with mostly F&V; I was actually aiming for under £40 but even included a couple of treats - how did that pack of 3 persimmons end up in my trolley?; then DH came home from SW with a carrier bag full of mainly tins and a few satsumas, as he was Slimmer of the Week, so the store cupboard and fruit bowl are both looking pretty full now
- cooked our main meal at lunchtime
- 30 min zzz
- walked Rosie a bit further than we have been doing in the heat, and we were lucky to be back home before the next shower happened.
I'm just enjoying a very good cuppa, then I must change into something more respectable, fetch W, and take her to school so that I can watch her leavers' play, after which I am going straight to the community meeting at church. Supper will be a sandwich later.
That mega salad bowl sounds delicious, HB. I may have to ask you for some tried and tested recipes. x
Hope Pops is behaving himself, round x
(((Hugs))) to all who need one xxx

Hello all
Thanks for the lists @Valli. I had a really busy weekend what with GD for a few hours on Saturday, a meal out Saturday evening and a show that GD was in Sunday to go and watch. Yesterday, I had a community meeting in the morning to discuss local stuff so I've only done the bare minimum for a few days.
But, I did do the fridge and rubbish bins check and put stuff out last night as today was household and food caddy bin collection so that was good. I also went to bed early last night as I was v. tired! The path to old age is an interesting road to navigate...
Today I've dusted the kitchen and cleaned the hob and the worktops. Sorted out the detritus on the dining table (again! It's amazing how quickly it comes back!). Put various things that randomly appeared in the wrong place away. Put some recycling out ready for next week. Decluttered a couple of surveys on Prolific (one was quite lucrative at over £14 for the hour!).
Wrote a couple of emails and researched some facts (there are plans for a development in my neighbourhood which seems to be breaching stuff it shouldn't). So, I have another email drafted which will go out to various high up people in the council once I'm happy with it. Finalised my Mr T home delivery order for tomorrow.
Sent the robot vacuum around the living room again today (with mop activated!). It really does do a good job! Am about to sort out dinner now.I am the leading lady in the movie of my life

Jumping in having skim-read so belated happy birthday Jazee, various get-well/good luck wishes as required.
We had a fairly good visit to Mum's at the weekend but I'm getting progressively more hampered by this odd shoulder injury I seem to have acquired in the car when coming back from Gloucester the previous week. So exercise routine has really suffered: last Tues did short gym swim then sat in the sauna; Wed did half of aqua aerobics then got out; didn't do Wed zumba; cancelled Thurs Pilates but did Fridays's although I couldn't lie down flat. Did Fri eve zumba trying not to move arms. Didn't do lake swim on Sat or any sea swimming in Dorset. Zumba on Mon eve without arms. Cancelled gym swim today and have cancelled everything else this week. In desperation I rang the gym for a physio appt - all my gym had was next week when we're away, so I accepted one for tomorrow morning at St Alban's which is between 40-65mins drive away according to G00gle. Today it's been really bad, don't really know what to do with myself. Did some drum practice but that hurt too.
However, have unpacked bags from the weekend and done a load of washing.
Plants watered.
Gibble cleared from kitchen.
Bird feeders filled.
Started planning what to see next week at Royal Welsh Show. Really hoping physio can work magic as our time away was likely to comprise walking with small backpack/swimming/possibly riding and none of those seem very appealing at the moment.
Did a lot of archiving at work today.
So tomorrow is early start to physio, go to work on the way home in time for a 12.15 Zoom meeting and a 2pm student. Then I need to pull myself together in the evening and catch up on 2 webinars, continue with tax return, finish filing drum music, do a flower arrangement for drum tutor as it will be my last one with him......oh and get the garden under control.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.7 -
Had a lie in yesterday then made rhubarb jam. Whilst it was cooking (prior to adding sugar) I labelled the red gooseberry jam and put it away. Kitchen got a full level 3 after jam finished and also cleaned DR (which was grim) and mopped hallway so I’m ahead for todays list (laughs evilly)
Visit to PO to post ebay sale and Mr M and whilst I was making tea I knocked up packed lunches for DD and myself…pasts salad.
Knitting in evening whilst watching One Day then Sewing Bee. I had to take back knitting (frogging) due to error. Luckily a baby knit so not too onerous. Lost my knitting mojo recently but need to get it back.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

Dog walked, now doing some voluntary work at home which probably won't be finished before I go in tomorrow but it's not urgent so that's okay, and I'm then taking a neighbour out to lunch.Flying-wise, I've tidied up and put things roughly where they belong, sorted out a pile on my desk and rehomed most of it - rather pleasingly. It looks a lot better, and shuffled some money about that I should have done days/weeks ago.I've also read through the stack of scrappy bits of paper notes on my desk and realised I'm so lost in the mire I'll probably never catch up. I haven't got the time or energy to fret about that. It's just an observation. *meh*Better is good enough.5

Hello.
Flying today was just cleaning my desk inspired by HB. Also two work shifts, dailies, dog walks, sorted a frog phone call and been to dentist. Oh, and posted a parcel and bought bread and jam.

Am beginning to get a handle on coping with the exhaustion. Brought in washing not long after I arrived home but after i had had a rest. Everything that won’t need ironing is away. WUALTD and dw and wm locked and loaded, with the washload having gone downstairs this morning…another way i’m coping is taking stuff up or down when i go, then i’m not making special trips. Likewise when i put the bin out i watered the camellia.
And this is being typed after i have gone to bed.
But I do hope this phase passes soon.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

- swept kitchen floor while waiting kettle to boil for morning cuppa
- good journey to physio and a promising, if very painful, assessment. Shoulder damage isn't too bad compared with one I had in 2016 (in the other arm) although I hadn't realised how limited movement was in some areas. Physio agreed it was a type of whiplash almost certainly caused in the car; never again will I drop off to sleep while holding the over-window handle thing or the seat belt. He's given some exercises to do while on hols and I'm booked in to my own gym physio later in the month. And advised paracetomol rather than ibuprofen.
- took him at his word and had a paracetomol washed down with a C0sta on my way to work; well I deserved it after all the "does this hurt...ah yes (yelp/whimper)".
- Had good Z00m meeting with manager, wrote it up and did any actions as I'll forget them by the time I'm next there.
- short but good meeting with student, wrote it up ditto.
- bought flowers on the way home for drum tutor and will use the remainder for a lady at work who's going overseas on mission; I've worked quite closely with her and hadn't realised that she is leaving while I'm away.
- picked foliage for above.
- checked greenhouse.
- Mr N gets all the flying brownie points today for vacuuming and gardening.
- wrote a list of the food we need to take on hols and another for what we'll need to buy fresh once we're there (or close).
I must have done something else useful but I can't recall what. Did some drum practice; painful.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.5 -

Hello everyone. I've only skim-read the last couple of pages so sorry if I"ve missed anything important.@eltee2 sorry to hear about D's cancer - that must be a great worry for you all.I've had a major flying day today. First I popped to the shops for A's pape and a few things form the bakery/deli. I came back and made lunch and WUPA everything. I then cleaned the kitchen and bathroom thoroughly, took bags of rubbish/recycling down to the bins and also a large box that had had two new pillows in, plus the old pillows. I wondered how long we'd had the pillows and looked at the labels and one said st St Michael.
Perhaps I should have replaced that one before now. Anyway, the new ones are very nice (bought in The White Company's sale), although I now seem very high in bed as they are much plumnper than the old ones. I also bought two new pillow cases but then realised that I don't need any more pillow cases. Oh well, they'll keep.
I also had a vac around and tidied the sitting room. My brother rang but I said I would call him back as I wanted to finish my flying. I did call him back but he was about to eat so our call was short - I will ring him back later. He said our cousin's son-in-law, who is only in his late 50s, is starting to have short-term memory problems, which is worrying. He is having some blood tests and a brain scan.Tomorrow we have A's oldest friend's late brother's partner (if you can understand that!) coming over for lunch. He's Canadian but has a flat over here and is having a holiday. I'm keeping it simple: quiche and salad and my trusty Delia recipe of baked peaches stuffed with crushed amaretti.5
