Holiday cottage not as described

I'm looking at the ad and also the corresponding ad on Air B&B, and other rental sites.
Not once is the word private written.
It says the property is detached, but it does not say you get the whole property.
I think 10% would now be too much given whats written vs what was interpreted.
While the reviews are not always 100% accurate it also seems that many others have failed to query these problems.0 -

Why wouldn't you get the whole detached property? or they should make it very clear the detached house is attached to an apartment (not my definition of detached), it's misleading and missing a very important fact that people base their decision to rent upon.1 -
You say it’s not about the money OP, but if that was the case, you’d take the 50 quid, leave a poor review and move on. I think it’s a little about the money. It’s going to come down to what was described on the written part of the description. I don’t think you can just assume from photos and as someone else has said, private parking doesn’t necessarily mean solely for you.1

This is a very good point that I always forget with these booking sitesGrumpy_chap said:
The first part of the process to consider, if you think S75 is a route to follow, is whether the supplier - creditor - debtor relationship is maintained through the booking platform used.
@born_agan any thoughts please? In the game of chess you can never let your adversary see your pieces0 -
Will certainly get a push back as they stayed the full length.
I would be tempted to go via the credit card for a S75 claim stating that fact the family lived in the garage whilst the holiday home was descried as detached was a breach of the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024, Section 226 in that information that the average consumer needs to take an informed transactional decision was false.XX44HAM44XX said:
Yes it was paid with a credit cardSorry OP, just a thought, did you happen to pay with a credit card?

and you are seeking the right to redress of a 25% discount under Section 27l of the The Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008
https://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2008/1277/regulation/27I
I would also throw in £83 per person for loss of enjoyment.
CC will probably push back as this kind of stuff is outside the day to day "my TV broke" but you can always raise an official complaint with the bank if they aren't being helpful which might given them a nudge.
Whilst the bank will end up paying rather than the home owner it might get some money back.
A detached property can have more than one group living in it. All it means is that the property is not attached to any other.
From listing "detached coastal property", which it is.Life in the slow lane1 -
Other guests don't appear to have been bothered by the apartment if the reviews are genuineIf you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales1

I disagree.Alderbank said:We have stayed, with our dogs, at quite a few different AirBnB houses around the UK.
Without exception the garage was locked and contained the owner's personal stuff (although never, so far as we knew, the owner's children!)
You say the parts of the property which were available to you were correctly listed. I don't think you have a strong case.
Regardless of the parts available, the property was advertised as DETACHED which it wasn't.
Lots of people (us included) only rent detached properties because we just don't want to have other people within earshot.
Detached properties carry a premium price.
The OP is entitled at the very least to the difference between a detached and semi detached property, but I'd say also a little extra for the disappointment.
Holidays are expensive. You want what you pay for.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)2 -
It's about getting what's fair under the circumstances, some replies have suggested 25% is reasonable but I'm not after squeezing for all I can get but also won't be taken the mick out of by a 2.8% offer which is insulting.screech_78 said:You say it’s not about the money OP, but if that was the case, you’d take the 50 quid, leave a poor review and move on. With no other option to remedy then money is what it comes down to but out of principle not greed or gain
I'm emailing the holiday company right now who claim to "personally inspect every property" but have also said they had no idea about the apartment to get some answers1 -
This property is £1850 pw, what are the prices for other 4 bed (sleeps 8) 3 bath and hot tub properties in the area with off road parking for the week of your holiday? If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0

Hard to compare but we have stopped in the area, within quarter of a mile, sea views at 2 other detached properties in the past 3 years with 3 bathrooms/ensuites, one had 5 bedrooms and was bigger, was just over £2k, the other was 4 bedrooms, also a lot bigger, no hot tubs at either but games room, just under £2k. The price was right where we expected it to be for a proper detached house this time,lincroft1710 said:This property is £1850 pw, what are the prices for other 4 bed (sleeps 8) 3 bath and hot tub properties in the area with off road parking for the week of your holiday?0
