Morning folks xx
Just nipping in to say thank you again for all your support and kind words. 😘
After starving Pops for two days and then cancelling he was told they'd operate on Saturday (tomorrow). OK. By the time I'd got home from visiting it had changed again. Its today. Or is it? Who knows? Pops was dealing really well with all this messing about but he sounded upset on the phone - so I think he's reaching the end of his tether. I've lost my tether completely - I think it melted in the heat.
Anyhoo. I'm up, made my bed, showered, dressed, taken my meds, turned over the calendars, packed my lunch bag, eaten breakfast, and supped a brew.
Going to call at Pops' house to pick up clean underwear, fill up with diesel, go to the paid stuff. And I may or may not go straight on to the hospital at 4.30 - depending on the state of play.
Stay hydrated my lovelies.
Take care.

Poor Round Pops, being shunted off the list yet again, and then mucked about. That hospital must be taking in a lot of emergencies to do that more than once. *healing vibes* for everyone needing treatment, but particularly for him.No word from the person who asked for photographs, sent about 48 hours ago. I'll give her a few more hours and then say a booking came in for both rooms for the dates she wants. I'm tempted to say ther are several Air Bnbs locally that have plenty of photographs (price £££) or that I'd like her to send me photographs of her home - to check that she'd be the kind of person we'd like to have in our home. Either way - no more photos for anyone, ever. I'm done with it.ETA: Typing that paragraph to clarify my thoughts and feelings - I've now sent an email telling her I had an accommodation enquiry yesterday from someone who stays here regularly for both rooms so neither is now available for her dates. And a few other niceties so my irrritation doesn't show, but either way 'Computer says No.' Had she booked it she'd have been staying somewhere lovely at a very affordable price. As it is, I can guarantee she'll be paying considerably more and I doubt it'll be as warm and friendly as here. We go out of our way to be hospitable, and provide accommodation at an affordable price and have done so for a very long time. Predictably, she's on Instagram but her account is set to Private - no suprirses there. I'd like the same level of privacy - so no more photos of our home will be sent out to people I don't know. I feel much, much better now that I've made the choice about how much I'm willing to do for people I don't know, so thank you Flyladies and Flygent for allowing me the space to think out loud, so to speak, about our home and how I feel about people enquiring to stay here. Boundaries.Today I will plant the seeds I've been wanting and meaning to plant for weeks, water the grass seeds in the communal garden and do some dusting. We're off to France for 24 hours on Sunday/Monday so I need to do a little organising for that, and pack Wren's things for her to go to the dog-sitter on our way to our ferry. We need to bring back some little gifts for various people and normally it would be cheese, but as that's banned at the moment I'm a bit stuck on what to get them. *doffs thinking cap*Better is good enough.7

Good decision HB. I’ll be coming to the North of you , I think, to scatter ashes at the seaside where we have a bench for sis. I’d stay with you in a heartbeat if it were nearer (and available).
A very good friend is 60 today so off to see her shortly. And taking SD shopping.
I cleaned a cupboard out in the kitchen yesterday. I had to use stepladders to access the stop/back. Found half a sack of fusilli I didn’t know was there. I now have two half sacks of fusilli

Hello all.
Round, what a faff for Pops.
HB, glad you made the right decision.
Kaz, we have cool mats. One for Poppet and one for me under the bed sheet. Very good if you can get the cats to use it.
I have been MIA as we've had workmen in. It meant no flying could be done on Wednesday while we turned the house upside down to give them room to work, and mega flying yesterday afternoon in the heat to get everything straight again. On the plus side , the house is clean right through, even backs of pictures. The workman are back in a couple of weeks but downstairs only so shouldn't be so bad.

Wordle in 6, couldn't get the third and fourth lines on Connections and Strands was a bit *meh* today. My brain is focusing on other things. I'm changing passwords as recommended by my iphone and it's another real faff. Can't be doing with faff any more.Thank you for your vote of confidence Valli. You'd be very welcome - as long as you didn't put on white gloves and run your hand over the flat and fluffy surfaces. They'd soon be very fluffy gloves if you did. We're dead quiet bookings-wise, and much as the money is and always has been useful it was never, ever the sole motivation for letting rooms, more like a bonus to spend on the upkeep of the house. And chocolate. I need to cut down on chocolate anyway.I've just found out what my MSE password actually is. That's got to be changed!Better is good enough.6

Good afternoon, it's a late post for me today, as it's been a busy day so far I have completed the required maths and English coursework, completed paid stuff, had lunch with my teacher friend and got feedback on my assignment.
My list for the rest of the day is:
Go to my maths tutor and take DD as she also had a lesson today.
Go to the community meeting
Take the dog for a walk when it gets a bit cooler
Take DD to the stables as we need to get things sorted out, ready for our horse arriving tomorrow
Sort the pile at the side of the sofa
Update Mr T order ready for delivery tomorrow
I think that is everything that I need to get completed today. I hope everyone has a lovely Friday.

Hello all,
Well said, HB. Your house, your choices. If I ever need accommodation on our way to the ferry, I’ll be there like a shot (if there were space of course). And no white gloves. Ever. After all, glass houses and all that!
Did some light dusting downstairs this morning and even lighter weeding of pots. Not long back from a catch up with ex work colleagues. Plus ça change and all that. HHI done as it seemed like a good idea - a breeze has got up, the sun disappeared. Not for long however, so I am glad to have finished that job. Wandering around now like a spare part. Twot, indeed.
Keeping everything crossed that they squeeze Pops onto tomorrow’s list.5 -
Glad to hear you are recovering Natty. Let's hope tomorrow is a better day for Pops.HB it's a sad reflection of the world I am afraid, everything has to be measured by how it appears on social media. Well done for standing your ground.
I love this weather. Finally I can remove the thermals and layers of clothes that I normally wrestle myself into and potter in shorts and t-shirt. My old dog however has not been happy. I shut him in while I went to weed the front garden, it was much cooler indoors.
DS came for an early tea tonight, which was lovely. I have not flown indoors but the garden has been weeded which was enjoyable. I have been rummaging in the wardrobe trying unsuccessfully to find my favourite summer pj's and made a mess. That can wait..
And finally it's weekend!6 -
Thank you everyone for your support. I shouldn't get so irritated by the photo requests but your comments have made me realise there's more to it than the simple request it appears to be when the person concerned makes it. Prior to the pandemic we had the occasional requests (like one a year) for photos but since, it seems to be part of the lexicon for part of the the younger generation. I just don't want the photos of the interior of my house going to people who probably have a dozen accommodation requests out there in the ether because I have no control over where they go after that. It's an age thing, probably, but also a privacy / security thing. If they want an Air BnB service they can pay Air BnB's prices.Changing passwords from my trusted old system to a new much stronger one is taking forever but once I've got all of them done, saved to my main computer, laptop and mobile life will be more secure. The hacked email thing a few weeks ago made me realise I need to tighten things up a lot and once it's done it's done. It was just too much to do at the same time as transferring over to a new email account - my brain doesn't have that kind of bandwidth. The house is cool and airy so it's not a bad job to be doing on a day like today - and tomorrow and the day after and the day after that if it goes on the way it has today. So, no dusting and no seed planting happened today. There's a surprise. Not.Any Flylady who happens to be passing through and would like accommodation is always welcome. The daily rate for Flyladies is £0. It's the least I can do for all the wise counsel I've had over the years from you.Better is good enough.5
